I'm still working through the story mode of Shatter, but is the bonus mode you have to unlock the objective for the same as the bonus stage after every world?

If so, :hyper

Yeah, except there's three different ones. There's the one where the exit is at the far left of the screen, the bottom of the screen, and one where it's a circle with the bottom half open. It adds up your total from all three to get the final score.

Sounds rad. Is it really that hard to hit the objective goal?

haha only just realised that you get mad multipliers in Beat Hazard when you don't fire and fill up the 'Daredevil' meter under your ship.

This objective should be cake now. At first I was like, "how is Joe Molotov getting a million points surviving 5mins, whereas I survive for like 9 mins and get like only 500,000."

I got my 15 quest hat without doing anything today; already had the JC2 one  ;)  Too bad I don't actually play TF2  :lol

I'm going to do the Beat Hazard one because I've been meaning to play it, but I dunno about that Metro one.  I own the game but if it takes more than 30 mins of playing to get it, then it's not worth the time.

It took me about an hour to get the Metro 2033 achievement just playing through the campaign, but you could probably do it in 30 if you rushed.

I added you and it says you use an alias of spaz. Is this you?

I don't see you; I'm raketemensch in the EB group.
I had the same problem with "spaz" - then I looked in the EB group. So... Valve supports multiple accounts with the same username? Or this other guy is "spaz" but has "raketemensch" as a nick somewhere in his profile. Or something.

Beat Hazard kind of sucks.  It's a cool game but it misses some fundementals of the shmup genre that make it annoying to play:

-first of all, you can't see shit.  The screen is too cluttered and with all the flashing the enemies don't stick out enough.  Shmups are about having anything that can kill you be VERY EASY TO SEE so you can avoid it.
-2nd of all the physics are lame.  It's all floaty and momentum-ish.  Ship doesn't control on a dime like good shmups should.
-3rd of all your main weapon is this weird wave that takes time to turn, which is lame.

I like the general game ideas, but I just wish it controlled like a good tight shmup aka score rush on XNA.

On to Metro 2033 so I can get my 4 of 4 for the day.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but surely by the time you've jumped through all their hoops, you won't be buying 100 games on steam because there are only going to be about 2 games you didn't need to buy in order to complete the challenges

Only three cheevos left until I get the second-tier TF2 hat :rock

Also, do not play Just Cause 2 at 1920x1080 on your PC, haha. Runs way better at 720p. Metro 2033 has really good atmosphere but the gunplay is absolute shit. Lack of v-sync hurts me physically.

yeah, but let's face it, if you're down to caring about stuff like Shatter, you won't be hurting them too much with your purchases.

It was in a five-game bundle for $5 about a fortnight ago.

Well, I bought it. But the point is: If you even care about something tiny and indie like Shatter enough to buy it, and more, to play it, you're probably not going to be hitting Steam up for the big full-price games like Black Ops or Need for Speed. In fact, I daresay most people playing this Treasure Hunt would be hard-pressed to come up with 20-30 games they actually still wanted on steam. If you told me I could have 100 games, I'd spend literally hours looking for stuff that wasn't utter balls before giving up and just gifting the rest away. If you spend $50-100 during one of the big sales, you can pretty much sort yourself out for games for the next 6 months.

Most games run at max no problem at 1080p, like for instance Metro 2033, which I actually run so well my eyes are being raped by screen tearing. JC2's a different story tho :-\

Zombie Driver is a pretty fun little action game, not quite the GTA with zombies that it seemed at first glance though. But the main issue I have with the game is the camera, it feels a bit too tight even at the "Smart" setting and the "Free Look" setting just feels to awkward. Not enough to keep the game from being fun though, running over swarms of zombies in a tricked out car [or ambulance].

Have you tried Direct2Drive?  You can get it for ~$32 if you use the code 'bahumbug' at checkout, and it is a Steamworks game so you can redeem it there.

Do you mean I buy it on d2d, then unlock it through Steam?
Cos d2d doesn't seem to have the Mac version, which is what I'm after.

It's a Steamplay game, so you can run it on PC or Mac. Just buy it from D2D and then you can activate it on Steam.

D2D doesn't list Japan as one of the regions you can buy from though. Such a pain in the ass. The boxed version is ridiculously expensive here for some reason.

I started playing Lara Croft: Guardian of Light today. The game is pretty fun, but there are some things about it that really frustrate me. Maybe it's because I'm using keyboard and mouse, is using the Xbox360 controller better? Anyway, that aside, is it possible to jump while moving down and left or right? Because I can jump in any other direction except those two and I can't figure out why it wouldn't allow me to jump going in those two directions. I've tested this several times and Lara simply will not jump in those two direction. It's really annoying because sometimes I WANT to jump in those two directions.  >:(

Thanks, I'll do that. Keyboard and mouse controls are absolutely horrible. Caps Lock to lay and explode bombs? Hold down Alt and use WASD to move objects? Come on.

Just wanted to update here.

Don't ever play Guardian of Light with keyboard and mouse. Ever. It's not because the default button placement is terrible [it is], but half the time it feels like the controls are unresponsive or just broken. Playing with an Xbox360 controller is basically night and day, buttery smooth and it WORKS.

1 pm eastern time to be exact

if you're new to the sale, remember one important rule: don't buy anything other than daily deals until the end unless you want to play it right away

you'll end up buying a game for $10 tomorrow and think it was a steal, then the next morning it will be $2.50 and include the other games from that series.
