Do no-CD cracks work on Steam games?  You should just hack POP.

Yeah I tried Strangers Wrath and it doesn't work.  10fps at 1080p and when it goes to first person the screen freezes and you can't play it.  :\

Even on my PC, the framerate fluctuates between 30 to 60fps and my PC can run Metro w/max settings at 60fps, 1080p.

I think you might be better off setting the game at 1600x1200 or some other 4x3 rez because the FOV doesn't seem to be widescreen.

At least the game lets me force 32XAA but even then it doesn't look half as nice as I remembered.  :-\  I hope it gets better.

The textures just look so flat.  Maybe some of the shader effects or normal maps haven't been ported over properly.

Looks about the same.  I'm guessing the low-res textures and lack of lighting just don't hold up well at higher resolutions.  Will be interesting to see how the PS3 version turns out.

Why would a game pause when you lose your Internet connection?
That is the stupidest thing ever.

Ubisoft was pushing that kind of DRM pretty hard a year or so ago, but it seems like they've stepped back from it a bit since. Mainly because people really hated it when the servers went down and they couldn't play the games they paid money for.

RUSE didn't use any extra DRM, but however with HAWX 2 they were back to their old "Permanent Internet Connection" tricks again.

I read an FAQ about Ubisoft's online deal and it gushes about how their service lets you play without a CD and provides online save storing. Which Steam already does.  :lol

I kinda regret getting Oddboxx now.  Even $12.49 is too much for a bunch of barebones ports that I will probably never play again.  The core designs of the games are still pretty good but there have been no attempts at all in updating the presentation or even controller compatibility.  It's a joke compared to the XBL/PSN classics.  Damn you, Steam!

Quote
- No "video" options to manually adjust certain graphical effects
- No ability to set resolution from within the menus (must add code to a .txt config file)
- No mouse support on menus (must use arrow keys)
- No keyboard support when typing the player name (must use arrow keys to navigate to each individual letter)
- Incredibly poor performance (15-20 FPS on high/medium-end machines)
- Ugly, jagged text in dialogue boxes that looks as if it came from a 3D game released in the 90's

Sounds pretty bad.

Well, that's just fucking great.

I was buying several stocking stuffer/gifts for friends on my Steam list, and everything was going fine. When I got to around the 9th purchase I received this message - There has been an internal error initializing your transaction. Please contact support for assistance. I get it for my credit card, and for Paypal. I can't even add funds to my wallet now. I know I have plenty of money in my accounts, so this has to be some sort of automatic denial that kicks in after multiple purchases in a row.  I contacted my bank and they said there was no auto block on their end, so it's all Valve.

There was one thing I wanted for myself that ends today, and I'm probably going to miss out on that now.  If I end up missing out on the rest of the sale over this, and can't do the rest of my gifts, then Valve can pretty much kiss my ass forever.

Basically, if you buy a lot of stuff in a short amount of time [through multiple purchases], then Steam will block your card. Which I can see being incredibly annoying if you're buying gifts for a bunch of different people during one of Steam's sales. About the only thing you can do is contact Valve and authenticate your card with them, but if it's a daily sale it'll probably be over by the time you can get the issue sorted out.

wow, Stranger's Wrath is straight up busted.  Even at the lowest setting it is barely playable, and you mouse controls feel like a cheap way of emulating the right thumbstick.

lol apparently Munch had "xbox dash" on the main menu and there are xbox files in the program folders.  people assume these are just emulated xbox games.

you still get issues with the wallet if you buy things too fast

it is like, i am holding a bunch of bills crumpled up in my hand that i didn't even bother counting, and then i throw them all on the counter in a wad and say "IS IT THIS MANY?" and Steam says "Whoa there, slow down buddy," and I say "WHAT IS YOUR GODDAMNED PROBLEM STEAM JUST FUCKING TAKE IT"
