You can never compare being homosexual to being black.

However, black and other minorities should be as close as butter on toast: someone being discriminated against is just that: someone being discriminated against. Instead, most blacks really only care when their rights and humanity are taken for granted and not others (see: any mainstream black pastors opinions on homosexuality and gay rights).

Well, being homosexual does not necessarily mean loving the color pink and being flamboyant. Liking someone of the same gender is merely an expression of love. It's not like you can walk into a store and be followed around for being gay. Do people cross the street when you're walking towards them because you're gay? My grandmother had to pretend she was white to get a job as a teacher because her skin was light enough to pull it off. Being gay would have no relevance to getting that job, unless people found out. However, being black, by way of Jim Crow and segregation would have.

I'm not saying gays don't experience their own struggles, because they clearly do. But comparing it to being black or even remotely brown in color is a fool's errand.

People should stop playing oppression olympics and just create a Minority Justice League and shut the fuck up.

Many gay people can't hide who they are and often encounter: people crossing the street when they're walking towards them, losing jobs, etc. etc.

There's a ton of similarities. They're not equal, because no struggles are, but there is a fuckton of similarities.

A guy at work started the process to get a sex change op about a year or so ago, for someone who is new to being a woman I must say she takes good care of herself. Like perfect makeup, well dressed, can do heels. I'm in awe of her innate ability to just learn this stuff. She isnt getting help form anyone either, her family and most of her friends scorned her sadly :/

The reality is nobody suffers as much as hardcore gamers these days, just look at all the distorted coverage on FOX News and the like taking the strong, realistic characters and inspiring story of Mass Effect and making it look like a crazed porno. And how about the disparaging looks you get trying to inform other people at Wal-Mart that they're making a bad purchase getting the latest Call of Duty or Madden when there are actually GOOD titles like Hyperdimension Neptunia MK2 sitting there untouched? And what about when you try talking to that girl in class about how her character and fighting through all those disgusting guys trying to date her reminds you of the strength and struggles of Polka in Eternal Sonata? And yet rather than her recognizing your strength she calls you weird and hooks up with just another jock who doesn't respect her for who she truly is. There are TV shows with homosexuals like Will and Grace and shows with blacks like The Hughley's and everything Tyler Perry produces, but Hollywood would never think to produce a prime-time show based on the latest Atlus property. If gamers are even shown on TV they're always portrayed as school shooters who prepped in Doom. I think that right there expresses everything else that needs to be said about the oppression of hardcore gamers in our society.
