I have indeed spent a lot of time with both the CC and CC Pro.

Weirdish shoulder buttons weren't really an issue in the CC era when I just used it to play SNES games and the occassional N64 title. (Wiimote sideways was NES.)

But the real deal shoulder buttons have definitely been nice for MonHun. In fact the CC Pro is one of the more awesome controllers I've used. If only it was truly wireless and had rumble, I'd say.

Well the Wii U Pro Controller seems to be basically that, so I'm really really happy with it.

But how did we get on me, you're the one freaking out about an analog stick being moved an inch up.

A "fond" memory I have of PC pads until around 2004-ish was the big long row of them at like CompUSA/BestBuy and how I needed the d-pad from that one, with the shell from this one and the buttons from that other one.

Mushy buttons makes me think of this:

I still disagree with Andrex and Oscar. When I play games, my finger is always on A button. If I need to change the camera, I move my thumb to right stick, and adjust, then move it back to A or whatever button I need. With the right stick where buttons usually are, you lose mobility switching from the default button (which is A) to right stick. Instead of moving your thumb a quarter of an inch, you move your thumb a full inch. Maybe people will get used to it, maybe not!

And when I mean A, I mean 360 A, so B on the wii u controller.

My wondering about it is whether my dislike of the Dual Shock analogs are because they're on the same horizontal level or because they're so close together. At least the Wii U Pro thing might answer that in one regard.

Dell had some weird thing where they gave away that and the joystick version for free if you got a PC and my parents got one then. So I used it for a while since it had six buttons.

Thrustmaster was such an improvement.

That was horrible. They fucked that up so bad. Controller-S however, is god-tier. Going from S-controller to 360 controller made me want to drink piss.

I think the white and black are still off on that, for one they aren't lined up as well as the start/back are on the left side. LB and RB on the 360 is just better overall than any of that. I have no idea why they tried it.

Other than putting those buttons on top, I want to give the weight of the 360 pad to the S. The 360 makes me feel like I could beat someone to death with it if I needed to.

Okay, let's assume the new hypothetical Mario supports this controller. It's a 3d Mario, mind you, so camera controls are important. X would be the jump button, no? What about slide? Would Y be a good place? Or A? Seems easier for Nintendo and third party devs to just put the face buttons where they have been placed on a controller for decades rather than try to reinvent the formula. Even if gamers adjust to it, it seems too much work to readjust controls for something so basic.

Run was the Z button on the Nunchuk in RE4 Wii and I thought it worked perfectly. And the Wii (combined) only had three "shoulder buttons."

Yes, but Z is right under your finger on wiimote so you always have access to it. You don't exactly have to move your finger to access the run button in RE, whether on wiimote set up or traditional controller set up (360, gc, ps2).

You can't really compare RE4 on the Wii to a standard controller setup since you can physically move the fucking wii-mote to aim.

How do you use the buttons and the right stick? The shooting has to be on the triggers.

It's not on a shoulder button on consoles because on console you use RT to aim, Andrex. Also, in Resident Evil, using the 360 controller as an example,most actions are used with one standard button. So you run with A, aim with RT, shoot with A, knife with X. If you make running with shoulder controls, it makes the controls to convoluted than they should be. Instead of having your thumb set to A by default, you'll flip from shoulders to triggers constantly. That is too much work for an action game. Action game controls are supposed to be simplistic as possible to make actions go as smooth as possible.

You forgot knife has its own dedicated button!

Dual Shock is still the best for every genre except FPS.  With FPS games the analogs aren't anywhere near as a good as the X360 controller.

Since I don't play FPS games, or only play them on PC with a X360 controller, DS is still my favorite controller design.

D-pad is better than 360's but still sucks compared to Nintendo's, they have that shit down to a science.

Dual Shock is the only first party controller my hands cramped with when playing. Considering I've clocked even more time with the OG Xbox OG controller, that's saying something.

People who play fighting games and side scrollers. A lot of games today, mostly indie, use d-pad for functionality and input.

Unless your gaming palette is only limited to shooters - and then you have probably have shit taste - sure thing, the d-pad doesn't matter. But if you play like, more than one genre type, it matters a huge deal.
