Who even cares about the Dpads? Seriously, except for weaboos, who even plays enough Dpad dependent games for that to be a concern for them?

People who play fighting games and side scrollers. A lot of games today, mostly indie, use d-pad for functionality and input.

Unless your gaming palette is only limited to shooters - and then you have probably have shit taste - sure thing, the d-pad doesn't matter. But if you play like, more than one genre type, it matters a huge deal.

Anyone who plays enough fighting games is going to get an arcade stick or a fight pad.  Stock controllers pretty much suck.  The exception to this are Playstation Tekken players.

The dual shock works as a stock controller. I can't say that for the rest of em. So the dual shock has that at least.

8 directional d-pad inputs, curved d-pad edges, 6 face buttons, clicky buttons, concave face buttons that allow your fingers to have extra grip.

I want to say the CC Pro, because I do love it like a waifu, but if I'm being honest with myself, it's GameCube. Not the Wavebird, which has very very slightly poorer ergonomics and no rumble and a lack of weight, but the actual corded controller (which I do wish was uncorded, for the record.) Perfect weight, perfect ergonomics, powerful rumble.

Perfect overall? No. No nonono. D-pad is crap, c-stick is crap, Z button and no left Z button are sucky, but... it melts into my hands. I also don't mind the button configuration, but that's because most Nintendo games were built around it (obviously) instead of shoehorning a PS2 scheme onto it.

CC Pro is, obviously, second. Perfect d-pad, perfect buttons, the best to-date analog sticks (and two of them!) Nintendo had made, great shoulder buttons, near-perfect ergonomics. But, of course, no rumble and not truly wireless. Both things the Pro Controller seems to fix without taking any steps back (the switched stick position is a step sideways, I think.)

So I'm very keen to spend some quality time with the Protroller, since it's in the running to surpass both the GC and CC Pro for me.

I agree with Andy-poo. Gamecube d-pad is an abomination but it's actually one of my favorite controllers. I love how the entire controller centers on the A button and I love, love, love the shoulder buttons.

Personally, I think it's slightly too heavy and while the ergonomics are serviceable, they're not great.

I dig the concave sticks though.

I don't know about best. but a good amalgamation would be the bubble d pad from the current logitech gamepads, analog placement from the dual shock, and tightness of analogs and triggers from the 360.  Digital buttons too.

The gamecube gates annoyed me.

Currently I play most of my 3D games with a modified Dual Shock, analogues are replaced to be grippy and concave as well as actual triggers. Cant stand the default triggers and analogues, other than that the shape, ergonomics, size, weight and placement sits good with me.

Pretty much all 3D third-person games avoid using the D-pad for anything other than like item selection. Other than fighting games, I can't think of anything where the D-pad would be used as the main method of moving the character around.

I don't think anyone is okay with it, just a dumbass argument about how culpable the parties involved are. I don't think a person who encourages cheating is a great person but I just don't agree with the assertions that it's not completely the SO's fault. Oh well. It's dumb and I should feel dumb for participating, especially given the awful analogies these threads tend to have.

Nintendo defense force all up in that thread. You have people legitimately caring that Nintendo's bottom line would be hurt because they would have to pay the Blu-Ray license, as if the Wii U doesn't have an inflated price compared to its' component costs. It's actually been quite annoying I couldn't use the Wii as a DVD player early in the gen. Then my OG Wii's disc drive busted and I figured, if Nintendo couldn't keep the disc drive good with only sporadic loading, then no way would it hold up with watching DVD's for 2 hours, etc.

Onq isn't really so good at making threads. He posts a lot of opinion stuff that quite frankly, no one cares about. The answer for his thread is pretty obvious. No one sane bought a 360 just to play Fez. People continue to buy PS3s, and Xbox 360s because they have a large library of games and are cheap. Wii U is comparatively not cheap, and it obviously can't compete with the library of hardware that has been out 6/7 years. It's not a leap compared to what people had. As for Ouya it's even cheaper than the PS3/360 and we have no clue if that'll actually sell.
