Well, getting hit in the ass with a turtle shell and going from 1st to 16th during the final lap is not my idea of fun, but to each their own.

I'm not saying Wipeout is bad or anything - I like it more than 99% of the other racing games out there, I just think F-Zero is better (or, the best).

It's not the vehicles that are slow in Wipeout, it's the speed class that the campaign starts out in. Venom is sloooooow, Flash is still kinda slow, Rapier is a nice, normal speed, and Phantom is fast.

Ahahahaaha that's awesome. I know how that feels though, I love Wipeout but I found the Fury expansion hard to get into because it started out slow again and I found most of the new game modes dull. Prob would be better though once it gets faster, though I just like racing not dodging and shooting all the time.

I tried to get into WipeOut HD many times (on HD set) and just couldn't stand how SLOOOOOOOOOOW it is. F-Zero GX, even on SD TV, is at least 2 times faster.

Dunno, maybe the beginner vehicles in WHD are just slow as fuck?

Borys youre such a noob sometimes  :lol

Honestly, F-Zero > Wipeout. There aren't any bullshit kart racer-esque powerups that can screw you over in F-Zero, it's just pure racing skill. Of course you can turn that shit off in custom Wipeout games, but they're always there in the campaign.

Wipeout > F-Zero, especially for the music.

GX is SEGA magic

Nagoshi is too orange to make another F-Zero so if F-Zero did come back it would be Nintendo's special ed team and they're too busy making Mario Karts until they die

Heh, Nagoshi looks like a Japanese guido.

I haven't used many DS/3DS screen protectors beside Horii's, which are considered the defacto products for both systems, iirc. And while it provides good protection and almost crystal clarity, I feel it compromises responsiveness, but I'm not sure whether it has to do with thickness or resistive touch screen tech. On the other hand, I tried many iPhone screen protectors ranging from cheap, thick, no-name products to high quality micro films, and I never had any problems with responsiveness with either. So I guess this bodes well for the Vita.

Although I have to say, after using my 3GS without protectors for months, I don't think anyone should worry about scratches arising from the mere usage of capacitive screens. That is unless you have dry, shriveled fingers, like old Prole.

I can't say the same for the DS. (I have permenant scratches from the spinning parts of EBA as well *grumble*)

as much as I like Virtua Fighter, fighters on portables aren't for me.  Yakuza 5 for Vita is cool, unless it's a port of the PS3 version, because I'd rather get that.  the other sega 'rumor' that's already confirmed is Super Monkey Ball for Vita.  it looks bad.

and gravity daze long video thing (skip to around 4 minutes for gameplay)

To each his own, I'm not really into the buttrocky F-Zero stuff... progressive house from the late 90's - early 2000's is my favorite genre of music ever, so naturally Wip3out has my favorite game soundtrack OF ALL TIME.

Truth:

I fucking LOVE wipeout.  Even the PSP games and PS2 Fusion were like awesome awesome awesome racing experiences.  HD is insanely good though I wish it had more original tracks (does it have any?  I can't remember) and less HD upgrades of tracks from elsewhere.

However, F-Zero GX is better than any Wipeout.  GX is pretty much the best high speed arcade racer ever.  That game took SKILL and you would learn those tracks like the back of your hand and holy shit were the track designs numerous and all fantastic.

But the rest of the F-Zero games...eh, they're fun but most Wipeouts are better.  The track designs aren't as tight and the gameplay just doesn't feel as exciting.  GX was an exception imo.

Report – Specific Vita games to require memory card for saving

According to a Japanese report, some Vita games will require a memory card for saving in-game, regardless of if they’re bought at digital or at retail. Via a tweet from 8-4′s Mark McDonald, some of the games that will require the feature include Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Ridge Racer and Hot Shots Golf. There’s more through here: if you can read Japanese.

rumored memory card prices seem to be around the same as Japan's

it's nice to see retail getting as screwed as digital.  sony has some smart people managing this thing.

even if it would cost more, larger game carts would have been worth it.  between this and the long load times, maybe the 4 gig ceiling isn't high enough.

some new details

http://andriasang.com/comyrl/

Quote
Required Peripherals
Famitsu says that a Memory Card is pretty much a requirement, as some games will require the card. Games that require a card can't even be booted up if you don't have one.

External Video Out
The system does not have external video out.

PS3 Connectivity
Memory Card data management and Trophy sharing. You can also view video and music via Remote Play. PS3's Torne DVR device can also be used once you've updated its firmware.

PSP Software Compatibility
You can up the visual quality through bilinear filtering. This can be toggled on and off.

Use of PSP and PS3 Peripherals
The system cannot use PSP and PS3 peripherals

Internal Software
At shipment time, you can use the following built in apps or functions: Welcome Park (introduces you to the controls), Party (a chatting app that can be used in games), Photo & Camera, Music, Video, Near (a social app for interacting with other Vita systems in your area), Browser, Group Messaging, Friend, Trophy, PS Store, Remote Play, Content Management and Settings.

Parental Controls
For 3G, content will be filtered by default. If you want this feature turned off, you have to fill out some paperwork at the NTT DoCoMo shop.

GPS Without a 3G Contract
You can still use GPS, but 3G can acquire positional information faster.

Current 3G Usage
You can check your current 3G usage through an app called "Network Operator."

Wi-Fi VS 3G
The system will first attempt to connect via Wi-Fi. If no Wi-Fi connection is found it will connect through 3G. While connected through 3G, even if the system finds a Wi-Fi hotspot, it will not automatically switch.
Can't they just disable auto-save,profile,etc?

You buy a new console+game(s),come home excited like crazy and..."please fuck off to the nearest game shop and buy our required peripheral"...pretty mean thing to do

Buying Vita as a present=ugh

Installs as in sammich installs or just painless save data?

The save system and requirements are starting to sound a bit messy, best not to leave the store without a stick, any capacity will do until the whole thing is clearer.

The innocent boy inside of me *wink wink* is hoping they'll package a basic memory stick for the Western release. You know, where people actually give a fuck about DD. Something that's unavailable at retail, like 4GB or maybe 2.

vita can't play PS1 games is confirmed too, for the Japanese launch.

everything surrounding the memory card is so dumb.  vita is heading for a stillbirth.  Sony should have just taken a hit and included internal memory or memory cards with every system.  ridiculous how $250 only gets you a fraction of what the system can do.  people compare it to the 360 accessory thing, but at least retail games were completely playable without a hard drive.

Here's one point that may come as a surprise: games that save internally do not give you the option to save to a separate Memory Card. In other words, the save system is either-or -- the game can either save internally to its own card or it can save to a separate Memory Card. The player cannot select between the two.

Games that require a Memory Card to save may do so for various reasons. For example, they may install data on the card for Live Area or for future content expansion. When a game says that it requires a Memory Card to save, you actually need to have a Memory Card inserted from the start in order to play the game.

It's up to the game developer to decide which form of saving to use.

sounds like a pure business decision, you can't buy DLC if you don't have storage...brilliant

some info on the PSP backwards compatibility

main things are bilinear filtering and the ability to map different inputs to the second stick.  it's more or less what people were hoping for, and it actually happened, which is unusual.

edit:  apparently the way you get UMD games on it is by downloading an app to your PSP, paying a fee and transferring to the Vita, or something like that.

Sony outdid Nintendo  :lol

Charging money to transfer games you own, not even Nintendo stoops that low, at least the big N has the courage to actually sell you that product again. Sony is just straight trollin.
