I think Uncharted 2 is better. I replayed Uncharted 2 earlier this year and that's not nostalgia for the past world of 2009. Uncharted 3 is really good too, but it has so many more problems and ways it breaks what was fine in Uncharted 2. A lot of it just feels straight up clumsy.
and ffs, early on I'm thinking the fist fights were ok, but there's constantly a brawl and that shit gets tiring fast. It's always boring pawns, big guy, snore (not in that order).
Uncharted 2 had square for attack and triangle to counter-attack. That's enough. Uncharted 3 melee scenes last like 20 seconds of square, triangle, mash circle; fuck circle! and again, it feel so clumsy because you can't quickly go back to "shoot mode." I kept thinking it would only make sense to push the enemy away and have a point blank finisher. But it's like they really, really, really want you to check out that sick nasty circle button action.
the circle button sucks so much. dodge, cover, and grab are all mapped to it. what's great is trying to take roll near an enemy and cover; the game freaks out.
and and and the pacing is out of whack. some areas are so draining because you're in them for so long doing so nothing.
the biggest improvement is the story and stuff because it's a shameless amalgamation of indiana jones movies. Uncharted 1 and 2 dipping into C-grade adventure moves. not really why I play the games, but whatever.
Overall the game was great like Uncharted 2 was, just underwhelming by comparison. Still had great set pieces and looked crazy and stuff. That said, and reviews lol and wahtever, but games critics are out of fucking control to rate this so high.
