Just finished up High Score Girl. Love how it progresses through the years and you see what's been going on in the game scene during that time, brought back so much nostalgia from those days. A few parts get a bit over-the-top anime but that's to be expected in a show like this. I like the butler guy haha

Hoping they somehow end the story, but I need to read through the manga anyway.  Apparently what the anime showed was about half of the total story.

I love it but if I had one complaint it's that I wish Yaguchi had interests besides games. He feels like a complete loser and it makes you wonder why he's got two girls fighting over him.

I finished the anime last night and continued reading the manga and it really enflames my competitors spirit. I played some fighting games on fightcade immediately after watching, took notes on what I need to improve on. Then did a run of Final Fight. I still can't believe something like this exists. It's like it was made just for people like myself. I fucking love it and it's the most enjoyable anime/manga I've read in years.

That's what everyone wants to know.  Maybe they'll end up cutting out a bunch of stuff...or maybe it will be something original and then the OVAs end with the announcement of a season two.  Am just happy to get more of this show!

Finally got caught up on That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime and I really like it. I could see bumping it up a little higher on my list, if I felt like going back and editing it [which I don't]. I watched about half of Goblin Slayer but I'm just kinda meh about it, it's got some decent stuff but none of it really grabs me that much. Slime is quite a bit better, and actually fun to watch and not rape-y. Also, Rimiru is the best MC of the season, it's true and you know it.

Yeah I missed out on a whole bunch of Lupin stuff and am almost caught up.  Watched the Lupin 50th Anniversary Special recently and need to watch the Jigen /movieOVAs and then the Goemon movie/OVAs.

Yeah- I said the same thing!    We talked about it a bit a page or two back, IIRC.

Jigen's Gravestone came out before Goemon Ishikawa's Spray of Blood did.  Both are "sequels" to The Woman Called Fujiko Mine TV series and use a similar art style.

Then between Lupin III Part IV and Part V there was a 50th Anniversary OVA made.  It came out after Part V started IIRC and I was only able to find a DVD rip fansubbed.

Yup.  The related series/OVAs are Fujiko Mine -> Jigen -> Goemon and Part 4 -> 50th OVA -> Part 5.   I went back and forth between 4 and 5 (as it aired) and liked 4 a lot more, but 5 is still fun.  Same staff IIRC.

Dunno about a new TV series this year.  Just an OVA.

Feels like it came straight from a conservative op-ed.

isekai is a term new anime fans use to describe thier new garbage. And is just another thing that modern anime fans like to use to make thier fandom special. Like using cour for season.

Also Escaflowne sure dosen't follow those wish fulfillment troupes common in that type of anime.

The "person from the real world transported to a fantasy world" is an old trope [see: The Wizard of Oz], but usually people are talking about a very specific subgenre of that when they say "isekai" and it's one that takes place in an actual game world [Sword Art Online, Log Horizon, Dot Hack] or a fantasy world with a lot of game elements [Rising of the Shield Hero, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime]. Which is why Rahx was resistant to the idea of calling Escaflowne an isekai anime, it's missing a lot of the tropes that the recent crop of anime have in them.

The word gets thrown around a lot in the anime community because it happens to be very popular right now, thanks largely to SAO.
