Used 3G Vitas are going for less than the Wifi Vitas here for some reason.  You can get one for like $160 right now.  I sure hope Sony's not fooling themselves about that 4G Vita having any effect at all.  On the plus side, it might push down used prices for the 3G even more.  If it gets to $120, I'll grab one. :drool
Does this thing play PSP games?

I think microsoft is seriously overestimating how much people want a media machine.

If you already have something that streams netflix (basicly any device now) you dont need something else.

Not to mention none of this is even slightly relevant outside of the us.

I doubt kinect 2 will win europe and japan over.

There was a stat at some point that said more people used XBL for Netflix than gaming.

98.8% of people in the European Union don't have Netlfix.

There is only 1 million netflix subs in Europe and all of those are in the Uk and Ireland.

(EU has over 500 million people)

If MS is targeting that 1 million crowd then good jon microsoft.

For comparison in North America Netflix has 25 million subscribers. Plus you have things like Hulu and other services.

There are rumours this morning that Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us may have had its release date pushed back to June 18th, six weeks from the previously confirmed May 7th release date.

The rumours started after US retailer Best Buy sent out an email to customers who pre-ordered The Last Of Us, informing them that the game had been pushed back to June 18th.

I'd use Netflix on my Xbox, but since it requires XBL I just can use my Apple TV, PS3, Wii U, PC, Laptop, iPhone or iPad to watch Netflix without an additional sub.

God of War 2 and FF12 were both released after PS3 has hit the market and they still moved good amounts according to Oscar data IIRC.
Yeah, but you are talking about two big well known franchises released on PS2.This is one week after E3(June 11-13),I guess they will have to talk about it.

TLOU has massive hype coming from the Uncharted fanboys and is releasing when The Walking Dead is a hot TV series.

It's not sent to die like Gears of War: LOLment.

I'd fucking kill for a Ni No Kuni 2 on PS4, but considering its Japanese bomba, that's a no-no :(

A game like Ni No Kuni, or Xenoblade... are the kinds of games that sell me on a console.

The new Batman Arkham game coming out this year will not be done by Rocksteady

I take that as positive news meaning Rocksteady might be working on a next gen game instead

Rocksteady's game is current gen. They've been working on it ever since they finished Arkham City. It's a stylized (probably cel-shaded) prequel set in the Silver Age centered around Batman's first encounter with Joker.

Patent reveals 4G Vita, some places have details.

  •    A price cut on memory cards will be made. No details on prices.

CD-Action Mag known for reviewing big games early has reviewed Crysis 3 and gave it a great 9 out of 10. a user from Crydev forums named “pcrysis” published a few details about the review as you can see below:

it takes 5h to complete game in normal mode with sidemissions
there is something cool after credits
probably driveble tank
ending doesn’t exclude future dlc
last two levels are really big
facial animations better done than in LA Noire
you can see the cover of magazine calling it a MEGA REVIEW because its 8 pages.

overall 9/10
gameplay 9/10
video 10/10
audio 8/10

And so a FIFA, a Madden, an NCAA, an NHL title, all come out aligned with the sports calendar. And if a next-gen console doesn't come out until next Christmas, most people won't wait. They'll want to be involved in getting those titles early, because their friends are all playing those titles, and because they're being played on a current generation's consoles.

"An important thing to remember is that next-gen consoles will most likely not be backwards compatible… And if you [play] multiplayer on a game, you'll most likely not be able to play with someone on a different generation. And so if you're a FIFA player and, and the soccer season's starting in August, and all your friends are playing FIFA, you're going to want to be on the same box that they're on. So if they all go out and buy a gen-four box if it comes out at Christmas, then you'll most likely do it. If they all hold on and continue to play on third-generation, you'll probably not see that box purchase until after the soccer season's over.

We have no decent information yet so there is nothing to attack or satirize yet, just this weird fetishism of company spokespersons.

this supposed lack of BC is just one more reason why fanboyism is fucking stupid

If we are not buying into an existing and ongoing series of games platforms, why on earth would we care about Microsoft vs Sony? We have no skin in the game so no reason not to jump ship (assuming we don't just buy both).

Lack of BC is one thing... not being able to transfer over, say, your XBL arcade games would be pretty shitty though.  Even continuing to support a 360 would suck, because you're cluttering your living room up with a console that you're only using for one thing.

I do not want to keep my 360 hooked up once I get a new console but there are a lot of 360 games I would still like to play when the new console comes out. It sucks on a rights level about the used game stuff but based on my actual real life buying practices it doesn't actually effect me. Although I understand people have different priorities.

Sure, it's the same for me. I only have room for one or two consoles in my living room and BC is a very nice feature to have. Despite this I actually prefer that Sony abandon the Cell/SPEs setup and goes with something that will generate less complaints from developers and hopefully will result in better ports. It's possible that they will still have some kind of BC through software emulation or Gaikai streaming, but I wouldn't keep my hopes up.

I'm in the same boat with Stoney, used games would not effect me but the idea that my admittingly small Live library(15-20 things) is not going to transfer...that is one hard pill to swallow
I would still succumb under the weight of games at some point, but that point will be delayed and digitally buying anything else than DLC will be a big no no.

I never, ever cared about BC but I can see it as a anti-consumer move from both camps. It's just something console owners take for granted that new console is always somewhat BC with the last one.

It's not necessarily ant-consumer if they are changing architectures in such as a way that makes it not feasible to include bc. Not having out past Xbox Live and PSN games does suck though, no doubt it. I have upwards of 150 Live games and 30 or 40 PSN game myself - not being able to carry those forward sucks balls.

How many people really use the BC feature anyway?  How about past the first year after the console has been out?

The Live games will be a problem but they can just make money reselling the popular titles anyway.  You know they're going to put out a Durango version of Minecraft eventually.

Even if they could put BC in the new consoles I doubt they would. The old consoles aren't even that cheap yet so they have a ton of life left. Even after a price drop they would probably bringing in more money then a new sold at or below cost PS4/720. Keeping BC out helps the old consoles remain viable longer

Personally I don't care all that much. I've been pretty stingy with my PSN purchases the last few years, opting to buy most of my cheap downloadable games on steam.

I use it quite often and I would use it even more if it was 100% compatible with all games. The European launch PS3s can't for instance run Shadow Hearts.

A VG247 source has seemingly confirmed that the PS4 controller will include a front touch-pad, speaking a week before the console’s expected reveal in New York.

A VG247 source said today that PS4′s rumoured controller touch-pad is real. The input is on the front of the handset. The Start and Select buttons have been moved as a result.

The controller is “more or less” the same shape as the current DualShock. We’ve been told today that the L2 and R2 buttons have been remodelled for the better.

The existence of the touch-pad has been previously reported by Edge, but claims a “Share” button exists on the controller from the same report were debunked by our source today. Apparently it isn’t there.

I don't know, but I know it's been in development on Orbis for a long time now. It's platform has been questionable for nearly two years, but the last time it was restarted (it's been restarted a number of times), it was moved to Orbis.

wowwwww.  development of TLG took two gens.  History repeating itself with ICO.  Gotta love Sony for sticking with it though.  It would suck if Ueda left, his game canceled, and all we had were ICO + SOTC.

I can't believe people are complaining about the controller staying roughly the same shape.  They really don't understand "if it's not broke, then don't fix it."   If you ask these people what they want, the result would be some Poochie abomination.  Adding a touch area is literally the only modern control augment they needed to do.

I'd like to see something truly innovative in a traditional controller but I'll be honest and admit I don't know exactly what that is.

I don't see the purpose for a touchpad but at least it seems relatively harmless in the grand scheme of things.
