I got that.

Everything is handdrawn and inked first, then scanned. Sometimes, I decide to switch to vectors for some areas, but I don't work in Illustrator, I work directly on PS for everything (the old PS7 no less). It limits my options (like lines), but I prefer not to switch programs during a project, particularly when done in one go.

But the other project, if you want to get anal about it, has something like half the outlines not visible since everything is so dark. If we're talking about doing things differently, all the lines could have ditched. I think the coloring on the character would have had to be changed a bit, but yeah, it would have worked.

It's an indefinite sentence construction, just like the other bolded part. A way of speaking, to broach the subject, to explore possibilities.

But whatever.

It really depends on the frills.

Frills with "tubes" are easy, as an example on something current.

But it's the details that really make doing lacing really tough, like the ones below. I'm not looking forward to doing the details to these frills.

Finish the sketch. Time to get my colors together and start painting. Can't wait.

(Image removed from quote.)

Update:

First layer of colors finished, currently working on shadows and highlights. Will probably finish this weekend, will be finished with shadows/highlights tonight and start cleaning up the sketch, and work on the details.

I'm already improving over the Rashida Jones portrait in regards to digital painting. The biggest obstacle with digital is overcoming flatness and this piece is starting to pop already even with two layers of color.

no point in talking to you about anything else dude. You can't even take a damn suggestion without getting defensive (it wasn't even a critique mind you). A true artist would not get defensive from one small suggestion.

If all you want is someone to stroke your ego...well its not going to come from me. On to the next.

I see no problem with what he said ???

Too bad. Maybe I should make backups... just in case.  >:(

Anyway, since people kinda liked the fanart I posted the last time, maybe I can show what I've just finished today. Can you guess the game/character?

Hopefully, it will keep the thread going again.

Critique:

Interesting, however the face could use some more refining along with the swords reflection and background. The shadows on her body do not go along with the light source coming from that window. Her leg on the right side of the piece looks turned to far the left. Overall its interesting and makes the viewer look around the whole piece. Good job.

Close. It's Tyris Flare from the very first Golden Axe game, one of the three playable characters. In the reflection it's Death Adder, the last boss (though this is his design from the arcade sequel).

Made a new logo for myself.

I started using CS6 the past week and I'm doing much, much better due to the brushes. I'm not sure if PS CS5 had these brushes, but either way, I'm really liking my results. I'm finally able to replicate how I actually draw and paint on paper, with a pen.

An eye doodle. I have a doodle for every single major body part aside from boobs, penises, butts, and vags done. I'll share later.

A basic doodle for testing out CS6 brushes.

What I'm currently working on.

Eh. I've had my taste of traditional media. It's where I've received all of my art training. I find e-ink interesting because it's pretty new to me. Also if you can't tell from the hair in my logo, I can still simulate traditional stylized aesthetic even digitally so I have no reason to mess with traditional media. Traditionals are expensive and consume too much space. I have no space for big canvases in my dinky ass room.

Maybe when I move to a big apartment I can start fucking with the traditionals again.

But ultimately, my favorite medium, brush and ink, is far too damn messy and I can get similar results digitally without having to clean ink off of my hands.  :P

nice bulging crotch. like the lines, too many floating heads, arm looks weird in comparison to back and shoulder which means he probably did this freehand without reference. right foot of main dude is lol, left foot of main dude is rofl. right eye of blondie needs to moved about 2 inches to the right, those proportions do not match up. again, main dude leg is weird, given by the bending of his leg, his foot should be bent and angular. again, mohawk guy's right eye is like 2 inches (irl) to far to the right.

tldr; nicca needs to learn human biology. open a science book, study, research, copy, practice, copy, practice, copy, practice. and learn about gravity and physics and shit. take a science class, take a physics class, take a goddamn human biology class.

Bore Art Assignment Time!

Okay, here's the deal: I need to commission a piece of artwork and The Bore looks as good a place for that as any. What I need is a front cover for a book that's 1560x2500 pixels with a DPI of 300. I don't want to get into all the details in this thread, so just shoot me a PM if you're interested in something like that.

Here's two pictures to give an idea of what I have in my mind:

Hmm...well. I could probably go as high as $100 for the commission, although that's really stretching things a bit more than I wanted to. Just wanted to mention that it doesn't necessarily have to be something really complicated and detailed, I had a book cover made earlier and it was quite nice despite being fairly simple.

It's a work in progress. I've been practicing my drawing skills recently, mostly for school and also because I'm constantly surrounded by people ten times better than me. I'm using a picture of Felix Baumgartner as reference.

edit: The reason it's cut in half is that I only have one monitor to work on and where it's cut is where CS5 begins.  :P

Atra the original is better. I prefer the minimalist design of the first. The spiral halo on the second is too asymmetrical with the rest of the image. There is no reason for it to to be touching the text. Fatten the triangles up, make then wider, and shorter so that the halo canvasses the edge of the font. There are far too many. Less is more.

This may also be a personal thing but I would take out all detail out of that jackal face including outlines for nose and inner ear. All of it except the eyes. The bridge to the nose, the two lines look good but try an image without them as well so that we only see the eyes. It will make the jackal look more bold and distinct.

Rodi keep it up girl.

Don't know if I can put model work in here... I just finished a model of a FN P90. This is one of the first models I've done and it was a bitch. I only really started using Maya last quarter and the learning curve was pretty steep for me. Fellow evilbore digital artists, please let me know what you think. I could use the extra critique.
