Normal on multi is pointless unless there are significantly more or tougher enemies.

you don't play it to beat tough enemies, you play it because it's 1000x funner on multiplayer.  seriously diablo single-player has always been wtf.  ALWAYS GO MULTI

Seriously. I played solo through act 1 and was like "I don't see myself getting addicted to this" then I hooked up with my buddies back home and we plowed through the other three acts in one sitting. Multi with real friends makes this soooo much more fun.

Multi is definitely more fun, however I'm having a different kind of fun playing on single player.  Also, as you get to higher difficulties soloing is actually easier as you don't have the difficulty level ramping up from playing with multiple people, which is kind of disheartening.

thoughts on this video series plz

Difficulty: I would agree with that video. D3 feels so much like WoW in various areas, which makes the boring bosses and middling difficulty even more disappointing considering those are WoW's strongest aspects. As you go from each difficulty level it just feels like enemies and bosses are having their HP and damage increased; having seen this design strategy in later WoW raids before, everyone might as well get ready for Hell/Inferno to be nerfed once Blizzard gets some completion statistics.

I can understand and accept a few tank n spank miniboss fights, but I would have liked to see the big fights (The Butcher, Azmodan, etc) add new mechanics. Perhaps more importantly, I'd like to see less forgiving mechanics. Instead of just increasing boss HP, why not decrease the time you have to move out of an aoe or attack path, or increase stun timings. What if the Butcher spawned a champion/elite add every time someone stood in fire for more than a couple seconds? Basically: punish people for being bad.

Itemization: Very WoWy as well, with little customization. I'm basically playing my Barbarian like I'd play a protection/arms warrior: stack vitality (stamina) and strength. It would be cool if other main stats could mean a little something for different classes. For instance, INT increases the amount of health you gain from health globes but it's also important to Wizard dps. So for me, a piece that has some INT isn't totally wasted, but I wouldn't specifically look for INT pieces or gems. But what if some gems gave you two attributes instead of one? A survival character might be able to stack a vitality+int gem for instance

Story:
The story is lol worthy...but does anyone play hack n slash games for the story? That's kind of like watching porn for story bros. But just as porn can have a minor story arc that gets me excited (say...cheerleader stuff), D3 excites me with the journal storytelling thingie. I like going through a dungeon while hearing some lore about the monsters, location, etc. I don't care for the overall story but these minor things work to enhance the already awesome atmosphere of the game

DPS is pusing 9k now, armor is at close to 5k, life over 27k.  Most importantly, while I have my armor buff spell active, all of my resistances are over 40% and my health regen is over 1100/second (550 per tick).  While PD and I were fighting Ghom in act III, I just stood in his poisonous mist because my health regen was better than the damage I was taking. :lol

Gonna beat Hell and unlock Inferno at some point today, gotta sleep though.  Ugh, fucking light outside.  Haven't catassed like this since... forever?  D2?

Yah, if I had it to do over again I wouldn't have leveled any of my artisans or bought anything.  You can get through normal and probably most of nightmare just making use of good drops n shit.

Made it to Inferno.  Some idiot was selling a pretty powerful wand (3% life steal, +int/vit/atk speed) on the AH for only a 300k buyout.  Life steal is so good.  That combined with my regen rate meant I basically just stood and slammed magic missiles into the end boss on Hell and I would regen, up until his 3rd form where he spits out fire.  :-\  Obviously inferno is harder but I'm probably just gonna go total glass cannon and switch out all of my +vit gems for +int and start nuking shit before it can get to me.

I figured you were just talking about buying stuff on AH. I level my artisans because I can't help myself and expand my stash. I'm still only about halfway through Act III Nightmare and I'm not sure if I've ever had a +gold affix for long so I don't think I've gotten as much gold as other people. I've also probably wasted money on switching out gems too often.

No, I meant merchants.  I just thought that you said that you don't use the AH.

I tried using the AH for the 1st time but gave up when the system wouldn't let me buyout an item.  It was only $5000 for a bow that should be significantly better than anything I'll have for the next couple of levels.

SG: I don't use the AH to buy stuff, no. But I thought that's what you were asking about. I've never bothered to even look at what items a merchant was selling, tbh.

Mamacint: Those items weren't available on AH last time I checked a few days ago. And yes, they transfer to harder difficulties to other heroes. You actually NEED to go up to harder difficulties to continue upgrading them.

however, i'm still seeing a pattern. i can't see a way to beat these kind of enemies in the first go now.

i'm seeing why melee classes are fucked in the higher difficulties since these enemies drain a quarter of my health with each hit... blurhg.

Just found a really, really good helm on Inferno.  600ish armor, +120 str/+80 dex/+58 all resist.  Only downside is that it had no slot but whatever, it's still like hitting the lottery.

I also sacrificed about 5k life and a bunch of defensive skills for MOAR DAMAGE.  DPS is pushing 18k now, and my skills are primarily based around kiting- mirror images, teleport, venom hydra, force weapon with magic missile and back to arcane orb on the mouse.  Mirror images are a lot of fun, they sort of do the same thing that frost nova and diamond skin were doing for me before but can just confuse the fuck out of mobs.  I still have a lot of health regen too, so I can take a hit, toss up a bunch of decoys, run away and gain some life while my hydra decimates shit.  That guy does work.

I kind of miss having Archon, tho- that was like my security blanket.

I remember the Fields of Misery from normal because it's the first time I died. I best get some good loot here. Nightmare loot has been meh thus far. Getting a lot of pages and gold out the ass though.

Some humble tips from a level 55 barb. I was having trouble finishing Act 1on Hell. I re-outfitted with a 1 handed weapon  (instead of a 2) and a shield. Went for Life on Hit, and Life regen specs. I die a lot less now and still clear the normal mobs fast.

Might be worth checking out. Before that I was dying multiple times from most of the elite guys.

I did have a Level 60 Wizard come into my game for a couple of minutes a week ago or so and it was ridiculous. But I sometimes even get game-breaking slowdown when playing by myself. I don't think my laptop is supposed to be perform this terribly, but I guess it's getting long in the tooth at four years old (and wasn't top of the line when I got it).
