Time for this to get its own thread. Currently out for Ipad and touch and android. Comes to XBLA Wednesday. PS 3 next month. PC, Vita, later.

From the makers of Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection

The awesome thing here is that this going to be a pinball platform via DLC. Like Pinball FX they will put out new tables as DLC but these tables are based on real life tables.

The game launches with these 4 tables.

Black Hole
Gottlieb - 1981

Theater of Magic
Williams - 1995

Tales of the Arabian Nights
Williams - 1996

Ripley's Believe It or Not!
Stern - 2004

Farsight studios have mentioned these tables are upcoming in the future

•Cirqus Voltaire
•Medieval Madness
•Gorgar
•Taxi
•Monster Bash
•Dr. Dude
•Attack From Mars
•The Machine: Bride of Pinbot

Other tables confirmed to be coming:
•Creature from the Black Lagoon
•Space Shuttle
•Big Shot
•Funhouse
•Pinbot

I love it so much on the ipad, I'm double dipping sight unseen on the XBLA version.

Actually I think Vita is same day as PS3 (mid-april) because it's a "buy 1 get on both systems" version.

I haven't played it much on my iphone because I don't enjoy playing games on my iphone.  But will be double dipping on the PS3 version and playing that.  I would have gone for the Steam version but Gabe rejected it from Steam :(

Yes, only Slims have built-in wifi. You need a cord or wireless adapter.

The price for the four launch tables purchased together will be 800 msp for Xbox 360 and $9.99 for PS3/Vita (single purchase for both).

The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will run in 1080p Full-HD (1920x1080) and the Vita version will run in 960x544.

360 version is out http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Pinball-Arcade/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d8025841121d

I tried Arabian Nights once. Did absolutely terrible. I think they changed the physics from The Williams Collection - the nudge doesn't seem to be able to control the ball so easily any more. But I haven't played in a while so I probably just suck right now.

Bought it this morning. I'll buy all the tables on both ipad and 360 but this is definitely the better version. Very smooth gameplay. Played all 4 tables just to see if there were any performance issues like with Ripleys on the other platforms and it seemed fine to me. Supposedly runs at 1080 and it looks pretty sharp. It could use better textures and more flash in the presentation like Pinball FX does but Farsight is a small company and more importantly I love the feel of the actual pinball. Nice to play on a platform with real buttons. Great sound. They said the first two DLC tables could come next month. They've already been submitted.

Love this version . Put in a good number of hours. Thoughts on the tables.

Theater of Magic

Probably my favorite of the 4. Admittedly because its a pretty easy table. Easy to get multi-balls on and pretty easy to hit all the ramps. Really fun stuff.

Tales of Arabian Nights.

My second favorite table. Not too hard either but I seem to hit the outlanes much more often than TOM and the center area between the flippers, my ball seems to find quite often. I love the lamp score sound when your turn is over and its tallying up the points.

Ripley's Believe it Or Not!
This seems to be the most disliked table from some people. I don't like it as much as the two above but I still like it quite a bit. And how can you not love when that voice says "SUPAH JACKPOT!"

Black Hole
I stink at this table. The space between the flippers in the middle is huge. And that fucking mini-table I blow at.

I'll post my high scores on the tables next time I'm on it.

The Android update with Medieval Madness and Bride of Pin•Bot added has been released! Medieval Madness is the table of the month and can be played unlimited for free!

Which means the ios and eventually the console versions next month.

I'm so happy about this thing damn thing. I hope they get so many great tables on this thing. And its nice to see a small dev find their niche. Farsight was basically a studio that next gen left behind like a lot of studios. They didn't have the resources and manpower to put out triple A console games. But ios and platforms like XBLA/PSN, etc have saved them and allowed them to find a focus that fits the size of their company.

How does it run on X360?  Constant 60fps on all tables?  I'm guessing the PS3 performance will be similar to the X360 one.

I just checked and there is some bad fucking control lag on the Xbox version. It's bad when you're using the triggers instead of the bumpers. LB/RB makes it a little better but it's still got a few extra frames of lag compared to the iOS version.

I haven't noticed that at all. In fact the ipad version for me has always had occasional bouts of lag which only got worse with the recent update. Not saying its not true. Just saying my experience on the 360 outside of occasional bugs has been nearly perfect. I've probably put in about 10 hours on it and I tend to be a bit hypersensitive to input lag on consoles as I play a lot of shooters.

I'm playing on the ipad 3. When it first came out it ran pretty good at that platform. Some occasional lag but lots of ipad/iphone games have a degree of lag or slowdown in them. Pinball fx 2 has tons of it on that platform for example.

Then on that last update on the ipad something weird happened and the performance dropped on my ipad 3. Not sure if its unique to that version of the ipad or what. So the 360 version came around at the perfect time because my ipad version has been essentially broken since the update.

Haven't noticed any input lag on the 360 version myself. There is the very slight occasion of performance hiccups but nothing game breaking or even game hindering for me. I've experienced it maybe half a dozen times over the 10 hours I've put in. I'm pretty sure its running at 60 fps with maybe an occasional dip.

Not sure. I'll check when I get home.

And for what its worth I just checked on itunes and apparently its a known issue that the game is broken on the new ipad. It has this listed in the notes.

Quote
Major known bug: DO NOT UPDATE TO THIS VERSION FOR THE NEW IPAD!

Fixes in this build:
Updated table graphics.
Frame rate improvements.
Leaderboard stability improvements.

So hopefully that gets resolved relatively soon although I'm fine with the 360 version for now.

One option I would like to see them add for the 360 version is analog flipper control. Right now its full on or full off but in the arcades sometimes I used certain little tricks where I wasn't always fully on or fully off.

Vita version is fine as far as I can tell. There's some menu lag with the touchscreen stuff, in-game seems fine.  If anything the touchscreen on Vita is overly sensitive overall.  I swear sometimes my finger isn't even touching the screen and touches get registered (this applies to any game/app). Pretty fuckin' sweet to get both versions for one price, as well as any future DLC tables. Sony should be trumpeting value like this any chance they get in ads, but they're stupid so they won't.

Apparently the lighting is slightly better in the PS 3 version simply because it was done the latest. They'll update the 360 version of it later. But here's an example of how it improved from the Hall of Fame collection to the latest versions.

For what its worth Pinball FX 2 is coming to the PS3 and Vita and is going to do the same thing where you buy one version and get it across both platforms.

I need more PS3 friends because I'm absolutely destroying the 3 or 4 of my PSN friends on the leaderboards.  It feels so good and plays so well on this version.  Cannot wait for the DLC tables.

If we dig up the Williams HoF thread I'm pretty sure you beat me on many of the tables, lol.

I'm not "great" at all.  But I feel like I can at least hold my own on these games and get some long high score runs in.

The people on my friendlists though are always like waaaaay down there on the leaderboards.  Like if I get 50 million on a table, their scores are like 3 million.  Same thing happened with Marvel Pinball tables.  I barely even played those, like maybe an hour each table and never really learned what all the things did and I still was #1 out of my 6 or under PSN friends who play Marvel.  I just don't have pinball players on my PSN friends list.

So let's talk about Black Hole and how it is the hellspawn of Pinball tables like Gorgar was in the Williams Collection.

First of all, all the ways it can fuck you over:

-Wide center gap
-Left flipper lane (maybe right lane two) has a hole in it and balls can roll out
-For some reason the ball can get going REALLY FAST compared to other tables
-If you go into Orbit, not opening the gate will kill you on exit
-If you have a captive ball, which isn't that easy to do because the captive ball lane is at an odd angle, if you go into orbit and die it releases the ball and you have to sit and watch it die unable to do a thing.
-Orbit is goddamn upside DOWN

Most of the hits on the table take you up to the center where your stuck with the bumpers giving miniscule points and making the ball FASTER and FASTER as it comes back to you.  Opening the captive ball hole takes some work and then getting there is a total pain, then getting to orbit and getting to multiball...just a lot of stuff you gotta do without a single screw up and the table has MANY WAYS TO SCREW YOU UP.

Evil table.  I'm starting out with it (barely touched any of the tables on the iphone version, though generally know ToTA from WHoF) since it's the simplest table like how GORGAR was first, but like GORGAR it's eviiiil.

Btw, demi/muckhole are you getting this?  You two held most of the high scores with Williams.

Yeah, I saw your score.  Nice!

I got like 21 million and thought I did alright for a first run.  Then I searched for the old Williams thread and saw we were posting 100 million+ on that table and went ^^;  Gotta re-learn how to play it.  Been too many years.

I had a good first run on Ripley I think.  Around 50 million and visited all the continents.  My Black Hole score is pretty bad, only around 300k atm.

My high scores

Ripley's
43,906,900

Theater of Magic
2,166,305,760

TOTAN
53,400,090

Black Hole
911,630

Theater of Magic is still the table I feel most comfortable with as I feel I can hit the ramps and the other stuff if I need to. I really can control the ball there. It's also the table where I can keep the multi ball going the longest and get it fairly frequently and easily.

Totan is still a work in progress for me. I can easily hit the ramps now but I find spinning the lamp very dangerous as it often ends up going down the outlanes.

Ripley's is just a random table for me. I can't consistently hit anything on that table. The ramps are very weird for me to hit as they are placed at weird angles and even when I do it shoots it back down instead of gently depositing it back down towards the flippers like most tables do. Just a very random table for me. I lose multi-balls almost immediately for example.

Black Hole is just a bitch. I don't have very good control on it and gap is so fucking wide in the middle that I often lose every single ball that way and quickly.

I'm still learning the tables and figuring out exactly what I need to do on some of them. Like on Totan for the first time recently I collected all the jewels to rescue the princess and fight the genie but I had no idea what to hit during the fight. I lost the fight and ball simply because I didn't know what I was supposed to be aiming for.

I love the physics because just like in real life for me I always feel like I need a couple of games to "warm up" on each table to get in the groove. My first few games are always terrible. Then I get a couple of grooves games. And then I kinda lose it and can't find it again which is when I switch tables or quit for the session.

How did you get so high on Black Hole?  I have all the basic goals now after like 30 mins of playing it except the "get 250,000 bonus on the lower level".  That seems ridiculous.  Need some tips.

My scores after like 1-3 plays on each (except Black Hole where I have like 30 plays now):

Black Hole: 295,790
Theater of Magic: 224,197,650
TOTAN: 21,798,010
Ripley's: 50,540,840

It was just a lucky game. My other scores on that table are much lower. I got lucky on the lower level during that game.

Just got 652,420 on Black Hole without activating any multiball or getting any bonuses from the lower level so I still don't have the 250k bonus goal :(  Getting the multiball is SO FREAKING HARD down there.

ARGH HATE YOU BLACK HOLE

after two hours straight of horrible horrible bullshit, finally got 70k bonus x 5x multiplier for the last basic goal.  Still didn't beat Stoney though.

Black Hole:  743,060

And it should be known that in 2 hours of playing Black Hole I got multi-ball TWICE the entire 60+ turns.  This table sucksssss.  Time to move on.

Got started on Theater of Magic.  Pretty cool table.

This game is buggggy on PS3 though.  And a lot of the bugs are the same as Williams Hall of Fame bugs!

Found 3 already.

1.  Your trophies for the game currently won't show up on your profile.
2.  Game is reaaaally buggy about connecting to their leaderboard servers (Williams had this problem too).  If it tries to connect after you finish a run but doesn't connect, it won't tell you, but the next time you go check the leaderboards your score for that run won't be there, instead your previous score will be and there's no way to get your offline hi-score ever uploaded to the leaderboards.
3.  Bug #3 is based on bug #2.  If you try to quit the game while it's trying to access the leaderboards but not connecting (so your boards are blank), it'll crash your ps3 because it's stuck looking for the servers that it can't find.
