Okay. First couple hours of missions are indeed boring. Usual bullshit GTA tasks like follow that car.  But...
spoiler (click to show/hide)
missions aren't static like IV. I can kill the target. His car isn't bulletproof. I can take other paths. I really like that. And the mini games like bike riding and the shooting range are actually really fucking fun

I'll just comment on the driving and shooting and save a big review until I complete the game.

The shooting is competent. It's not omg amazing or anything but its a good deal better than GTA 4. It probably resembles RDR. It doesn't really feel like Max Payne mainly because you can't do the slow mo bullet diving/dodging stuff.
I'm playing with free aim and changed the targeting cursor in the options off the default one to make it bigger.

The driving is better than I expected. I'm one of the rare people who liked GTA 4's driving model but I think this one is more accessible but still harder to master than is typical in open world games so I'm happy with it. The Franklin slow down move and the ability to do the focus targeting while driving also ease the frustration that is typical in GTA games when chasing people.

I'l leave it at that and post again whenever I finish it.

I think it's only a problem if both the primary and install dvds are on the same drive.  People are getting around it by putting the install dvd on the hard drive and the primary dvd on a usb flash drive.

Methodis exposed hisself as a cracker in the Fitness Thread a long time ago. No one cared.

To me, the disappointment is that I'd thought Methodis had given up on trolling the Bore.

This is like that one stoner kid in your biology class finally straightening out for a semester, getting along with the rest of the kids -- and then, out of nowhere, he sets off firecrackers in the cafeteria during finals week.

And it's such a juvenile, amateur attempt at trolling, lacking grace or subtlety, and failing even to leverage the emotional investment he's placed thus far in the community here. It is such a clear DGAF return to habit that it really is disappointing.

To be honest, Methodis' trolling is pretty apt, I mean, he's trolling in favor of GTA, which has all of those things in its writing. Maybe he's doing it because he's trying to give us commentary on what he really thinks about GTA?

Just don't take him seriously. Methy is just being  cute and adorable.

Quote
DAYTON, OH—Calling the latest installment of the video game franchise “complex” and “highly nuanced,” local man Kevin Mitchell, who just spent the past 3 hours brutally driving over homeless characters with a stolen fire truck, confirmed Tuesday that Grand Theft Auto V provides a deeply sophisticated gaming experience. “The narrative is dynamic and multilayered, the characterizations are brilliantly assured, and the vast open-world experience creates a style of play that is both revolutionary in design and intellectually stimulating,” Mitchell told reporters, moments before making his in-game character block traffic with a bus to create a 10-car pileup in the middle of the street, toss grenades at unsuspecting pedestrians while standing on top of an ambulance, and jump off a building into the spinning blades of a helicopter. “And nowhere is GTA V more groundbreaking than when it is deftly skewering the vices and follies of contemporary culture with its razor-sharp social commentary.” At press time, Mitchell was remarking on the game’s “stunningly inventive storycraft” while repeatedly kicking a Los Santos resident until blood pooled around their lifeless body.

I think i will never go to gamespot.com again because they dont weed out the politics.  Do they not understand satire?

Quote
In series tradition, it has an eclectic assortment of radio stations featuring great songs from numerous genres and eras. In a break with series tradition, it also has an excellent ambient score of its own that lends missions more cinematic flavor. On a less positive note, it’s deeply frustrating that, while its central and supporting male characters are flawed and complex characters, with a few extremely minor exceptions (such as the aforementioned optional getaway driver), GTA V has little room for women except to portray them as strippers, prostitutes, long-suffering wives, humorless girlfriends and goofy, new-age feminists we’re meant to laugh at.

Characters constantly spout lines that glorify male sexuality while demeaning women, and the billboards and radio stations of the world reinforce this misogyny, with ads that equate manhood with sleek sports cars while encouraging women to purchase a fragrance that will make them “smell like a bitch.” Yes, these are exaggerations of misogynistic undercurrents in our own society, but not satirical ones. With nothing in the narrative to underscore how insane and wrong this is, all the game does is reinforce and celebrate sexism.

Who cares about the story, I just stole a truck and drove up the coastal highway. I pissed off a biker gang and it turned into all out war. I've got a huge crazy open world to fuck around in and if you have a problem with it then you can suck it
