Okay. First couple hours of missions are indeed boring. Usual bullshit GTA tasks like follow that car.  But...

missions aren't static like IV. I can kill the target. His car isn't bulletproof. I can take other paths. I really like that. And the mini games like bike riding and the shooting range are actually really fucking fun

I'll just comment on the driving and shooting and save a big review until I complete the game.


The shooting is competent. It's not omg amazing or anything but its a good deal better than GTA 4. It probably resembles RDR. It doesn't really feel like Max Payne mainly because you can't do the slow mo bullet diving/dodging stuff.
I'm playing with free aim and changed the targeting cursor in the options off the default one to make it bigger.


The driving is better than I expected. I'm one of the rare people who liked GTA 4's driving model but I think this one is more accessible but still harder to master than is typical in open world games so I'm happy with it. The Franklin slow down move and the ability to do the focus targeting while driving also ease the frustration that is typical in GTA games when chasing people.

I'l leave it at that and post again whenever I finish it.

I think it's only a problem if both the primary and install dvds are on the same drive.  People are getting around it by putting the install dvd on the hard drive and the primary dvd on a usb flash drive.

In series tradition, it has an eclectic assortment of radio stations featuring great songs from numerous genres and eras. In a break with series tradition, it also has an excellent ambient score of its own that lends missions more cinematic flavor. On a less positive note, it’s deeply frustrating that, while its central and supporting male characters are flawed and complex characters, with a few extremely minor exceptions (such as the aforementioned optional getaway driver), GTA V has little room for women except to portray them as strippers, prostitutes, long-suffering wives, humorless girlfriends and goofy, new-age feminists we’re meant to laugh at.

Characters constantly spout lines that glorify male sexuality while demeaning women, and the billboards and radio stations of the world reinforce this misogyny, with ads that equate manhood with sleek sports cars while encouraging women to purchase a fragrance that will make them “smell like a bitch.” Yes, these are exaggerations of misogynistic undercurrents in our own society, but not satirical ones. With nothing in the narrative to underscore how insane and wrong this is, all the game does is reinforce and celebrate sexism.
