Theres no giant mechos to pilot and the enemies arent exactly that huge (there are big monsters) -- but the gameplay looked 1:1 for the most part (no idea what X2 does to improve/change)

I dunno.  They did show it for the US stream as well.  oh, right, they showed off xenoblade (then, "Monado") and it took them years to bring it over.

I just hope this new xeno game isn't too dependent on multiplayer.  at least, it appears to be a multiplayer game.

Nintendo has a stake in the game, IIRC, so I don't think that's gonna happen.

Then again, Koei's Sengoku Musou 3 was supposed to be Wii-only, was published by Nintendo in America and had a character/mode based on an old Famicom game...

...and still ended up coming out on PS3, sans-Nintendo content.

It looks exactly like Xenoblade 1, which had no multiplayer at all. It's definitely not going to be DEPENDENT on multiplayer.

Theres no question that this will have a multiplayer component. But theres also no reason to assume that there wont be a nice thick meaty single player game there as well.

Huh? It looks exactly like Xenoblade 1, which had no multiplayer at all.

look to the left on the video.  It has a chat log and "PLAYER1/2/3"

granted it can be in-game characters fake talking and place holder names.

I'm fine with multiplayer as long as it ain't mandatory.  Actually, using xenoblade as a reference point, I'd rather it have multiplayer like Journey or the Souls series.  You don't plan for multiplayer, but may encounter other players in the world fighting monsters and you're free to join them or go about your own business.

Well I think Monolith has been taking steps to improve with every game they made.

Xenosaga = pure shit
Baten Kaitos = flawed game with some good ideas and beautiful art direction, but the pace was way too sluggish and voice acting sucked
Baten Kaitos: Origins = great game that completely overhauled everything bad about Baten Kaitos
Xenoblade = best RPG in years

Main difference with everything mentioned so far is that the main publisher wanted to release those games. 

SEGA and Platinum are finished.  This only happened because Nintendo wanted it.  SEGA didn't and don't.  If half of what I've heard is true, it's a miracle even this much happened.


does nintendo own the rights to Bayonetta now or did Sega just license it?

Sega licensed it to Nintendo.

Really, all the things they had to juggle to make it happen, it's downright amazing it's actually getting made. Seems like someone at Nintendo played Bayo and really, really loved it. (Or more likely it was a contract clause for Sakurai doing Smash, lol.)

If the word Xenoblade is combined with that red X on box art, SE could argue trademark infringement as they're confusingly similar. It would be a bad case as the distinguishing parts of the titles are "blade" and "gears" as "xeno" is a regular prefix in many words. A bloody red x seems common. Plus the mark isn't particularly strong, as it was on a PSX game 15 years ago.

Nintendo probably came to a gentlemen's agreement with Square over using the "Xeno" namesake; the game was originally called Monado, after all.

Or, if Namco owns it, they probably just rolled over and gave it to Nintendo considering how buddy buddy they are.
