The intro promo with Punk/Heyman/AJ last week is one of the best segments in years. FUCKING LOVED IT. I missed last night but it sounds great.

As to your questions? When Punk became the champion. He isn't always on, but the product became instantly much better when he became an important part of the show.

It also isn't a coincidence that the product has been a+ the last two weeks and Cena is out.

RAW (don't watch Smackdown!) has been pretty much been a borefest for years.  Recent shows are no different, but there are a few bright spots here and there.  I like the over-the-top stupid video segments with Daniel Bryan and Kane and the Punk/Heyman promo stuff...

...and that's it.  Might be fun to see what happens with Ryberg and Punk, but he's just filler while John Cena heals up.

AJ as GM is stupid.  The GM role itself is way past played-out and they need to do something new with it already, or at least get someone in the role that can actually DO something with it.  Heyman back in that spot would be great.

And on the subject of AJ- her entrance theme sounds like "SLUT IT UP!!"  Listen to it...you won't be able to unhear it!   :lol

Sheamus as a character is fucking horrid. One of the worst in the company.

But he's pretty solid in the ring. His match with Sandow last night was pretty damn good. I always appreciate that he looks like he went to war in his matches. Dude needs a change of character real bad.

I watched the CM Punk DVD today. It was pretty awesome and did a good job of retrospecting his career up to his win @ Money in the Bank.

They gloss over a few things here and there and I would have liked it to have gone a bit more in depth in spots, but it's very honest about the company and the stuff going on in the back.

I'm happy that the WWE dvds seem to be more for us smarks as they go behind the scenes and break the fourth wall.

Don't worry, rating have dropped pretty badly, meaning it's for a MCMAHON appearance.  He's going to "evaluate" AJ's performance.  Hopefully she is removed and they put Heyman in her spot.

Vince Russo got a lot of the credit, and was with them until like 99.  He then jumped ship to WCW and wrote some pretty awful stuff that was compounded by them firing him quickly, so you have back-to-back reboots, like WCW was running a bunch of Crisis events.  At least that's how I remember it.

WCW went downhill primarily due to the guaranteed contracts and the good ol' boys keeping younger talent down.

Russo just accelerated the process.

There were always these horror stories about WCW's booking/writing, and a lot of tension between building new stars and catering to the old established ones.  Kevin Nash was in charge for a while, which was a big conflict of interest and he didn't do a great job.  They had already fallen behind when they brought in Russo, who tried to do a big "shoot" storyline that both put him on camera and spelled out the young guys vs. old guys feud.

The WWF was sort of blessed that all their big names got signed away so they had free reign to build up Austin/Rock/Foley/HHH/etc.

You know what I miss about WCW from the mid-late 90's, though?  Random-ass Thunder matches.  They had signed so many wrestlers and were sloppy enough about writing that you had a lot of good wrasslers on the midcard with no real storylines.  So you'd get Norman Smiley and Alex Wright getting 13 minutes to do their thing, and working in a real fun wristlock reversal sequence or something.  Just fun, contextless fake fighting.

TNA is going through something similar last time I watched. It's basically a bunch of old guys I watched back in WCW wrestling and getting top bill matches. Reminds me of how much DDP fought to get a big boost in WCW, though he and Goldberg were exceptions.

Alex Wright and Norman Smiley owned.

Amazingly, the next RAW main event is going to be RYBACK versus Punk.  Cena's arm must have not been ready.   :lol

And Hell In A Cell is in Atlanta, too- it feels like Vince is totally trying to recreate Goldberg, lol.

Meanwhile, TNA had it's "biggest PPV of the year," Bound For Glory, which as usual felt like another episode of Impact.

So I tried watching the last RAW show and its completely average. Why must you lie heruro?

raw last night was not that good unfortunately. But WWE is really good these days. Heel CM Punk, Daniel Bryan is one of the coolest and most versatile wrestlers out there, the entire tag team tournmanent that's going on now, Ryback's momentum...it's pretty good. Not FANTASTIC or anything, but it could be soon. Last night was just a really bad show, but Daniel Bryan made everything worth it.

ryback is not main contender material. have no clue what is going on.

Goldberg was fun until he got the belt. I remember going to church camp and going nuts because I was going to miss the Goldberg vs Hogan match on Monday Night Nitro because fuck church camp so I had my grandma tape it for me. I went nuts during the match. The thing is, a few weeks later it was obvious that Goldberg was not champion material. The guy could hardly wrestle, couldn't talk, and Ryback is WAY worse in those areas. I swear he about snapped Punk's head off with that move last night. He is a mistake waiting to happen, and a 15-20 minute main event match up?!?! BOTCH ME MORE. BOTCH ME MORE.

I saw Ryback live a few months ago and he's like a crazy super move cameo in a Capcom VS fighter instead of a main eventer.

The only two relevant belts are the WWE Championship and the Tag titles.

I disagree. It's the Heavyweight title that makes the mid-carders have less of a presence. Poor Miz though. Went from having the belt to being a mid-carder. Is there anyone in wrestling history to get dumped so fast, and quickly? Maybe Warrior?

What's the point of a heavyweight belt if there's no other belts based on weight? If you had someone like Sheamus going for the Intercontinental title, things would be much better.

It's possible that Hell In A Cell might end up with a different winner anyway- unless they are just having Punk retain, to keep the belt warm for Cena, this could be when Ziggler cashes in and gets the title right off of Ryberg.  But that may not be likely with Punk in full-on heel mode.

:lol pretending any of the belts mean anything today.

This is the correct answer.  There's only relevance when John Cena is involved.  CM Punk and Sheamus have the main titles.  Doesn't mean jack and shit- Cena is the face of the company.

But it's good that they've built the tag team division back up.  The Intercontinental title is sorta-kinda getting a small amount of importance back (Kofi just got it from Miz), although the U.S. title is meaningless.
