My thoughts on the PPV:

-It pretty much sucked, except for the IC fatal four way. That was awesome.
-The Jericho/Ambrose match went way too long and killed the crowd.
-Those thumbtacks in Jericho looked positively brutal.
-Reigns retaining was predictable, but he did a good job in the match. He's just in the wrong role here and should be a straight-up heel.
-Rollins is back! His gear makes me think of Solid Snake now, lol.

ER was alright. IC 4-way was tons of fun. Both tag matches were entertaining as well. Ambrose/Jericho went further than I expected. I assumed they would tease the tacks a bunch but then never actually do it. Same for the barbed wire 2x4, legit surprised it was actually used. For a PG hardcore match it was surprisingly violent.

AJ/Roman was pretty good and the run ins didn't make either look weak. It's lame that Roman wins with out-of-nowhere Spears, it's just abrupt and deflating.

Happy to see Rollins back. Unfortunate he'll be fed to Reigns until Summerslam.

And Rusev winning the US title is a great thing.

Big Dave thinks having two world champs is a bad idea. I can't disagree with him since you're basically halving the pool of challengers for the top spot.

It is kind of stupid that they fired people right before splitting the roster. Sandow could have been used again.

You gotta have two champs-- when they only had one when the brand split started, the champ would be on both shows, but things went nowhere on the show where the challenger didn't appear. It doesn't have to be two world champs though-- you could have the WWE title on one show and elevate the Intercontinental or U.S. belts to a higher level on Smackdown!. But I expect them to bring back the heavyweight championship or just make RAW and Smackdown belts.

I've been watching Raw's and PPVs with my girlfriend the last few months and it's been fun to see what she likes and dislikes. She never watched wrestling before me and only knew about it in the broad sense, plus hearing friends from work talking about it.

She really dislikes Roman Reigns. When he was on screen last night she audibly groaned in boredom and kept asking why he keeps saying the same thing in the most boring way. She also HATES The Shinning Stars, but again not in a "heel heat" kind of way. She can't understand what they are trying to do.

On the flip side, she LOVES Enzo and Cass. LOVES New Day (of course), LOVES Cesaro.

I'm confused by the Shining Stars too.

My lady's tastes crack me up. We've been watching for over a year now and she's quite set in her ways. She loves R-Truth, Big Show, Cena, KO, New Day (Big E specifically), and her favorite was Ryback :'(. She's not a fan of Roman, AJ/The Club, or HHH. For the women she finds them all boring except for the Bellas, Asuka, and Nattie (who she loves) and Eva Marie (who she hates).

She also gets way into the stories, in a funny way. She was pretty upset when Big Show turned heel and refused to forgive him for a bit. I let her know she better get used to him changing sides at any moment.

They are really stretching the Balor call up as long as they can. I believe they are having him face Nakamura at Takeover Brooklyn. Meaning he could easily lose there and show up at Summerslam. Where AJ and Cena will undoubtedly have their 3rd match which I assume will be 50/50 by that point.

Then you have a two options:
Balor shows up and turns heel to assist AJ in winning 2/3 at Summerslam.
Balor shows up with Gallows/Anderson and they turn on AJ to start their own feud.

This is assuming they actually have Balor show up.

The structure of the Rollins/Reigns match bothered me in the greater context of the feud.

WWE seems to be somewhat leaning into Reigns being a tweener-like character but it doesn't really work because the crowd doesn't see him as "oh man so badass I wanna cheer him". They just boo him. So he's getting heel heat but acting like a cocky anti-hero. Seth on the other hand is just a heel. A snarky douche-bag chickenshit-heel. But they are setting up his story as the valiant champion returning from injury to reclaim is title. So one minute they are telling us to cheer for him, then he acts like an asshole and we're supposed to boo.

So the match happens. And the entire time Seth is playing the face role. Reigns is dominating the match and Seth is the under-dog. It's a classic heel/face style match. It doesn't make sense. Who were we meant to be cheering for?

It's all so badly thought out.

WWE should of had the #1 contenders match at Battleground and then fed that into the triple threat at SummerSlam.

I have no clue why WWE blows their load so quickly so often. I guess they'll do a gimmick triple threat at SummerSlam like a ladder match.

I bet the plan was to have the three-way at SS, but then with the brand split announcement, things got changed up. SS will be the first big post-split PPV, so they'll likely have two title matches and you know at least one of the three is going to be stuck on Smackdown, feuding with someone else over the title.
