I know you guys are gonna make fun of me and I don't care, but honestly this thread kind of made me take a break from this board. I'm still here but using it less and sticking to not PS4 threads.
This whole thread is a bunch of non-PS4 owners taking every bit of bad news they can find and trolling as hard as possible on the PS4 trying to convince themselves and the people who bought the system that somehow the system sucks right now (even though, like the PS3, 4 years down the line they'll all own it).
I'm enjoying the hell out of my PS4 still. I dunno if it's my favorite launch system. Dreamcast/X360/PSP were all ridiculously fun and PS4 is too. I don't care what reviews say, Knack is continually impressing the hell out of me visually. It's the only game that makes me feel like GRAPHICAL LEAP and it's fun. To me it's the perfect launch game. Solid gameplay, light on content, and visual showpiece for the graphical leap in generations. Exactly what a launch title should be (and a sequel comes out 2 years down the line and fleshes out the content and evolves the gameplay and visuals [or fucks it all up like Resistance 2]). All these FPS games and stuff just look same old same old, no different than Crysis 3 and all these nice looking FPS games we've been seeing for years. But how many Crysis level triple AAA 50 million budget platformers have their been on the PC in the last 5 years? Oh yeah...none. If you think about it, all the high-tech impressive PC games in the last 5 years have been FPS and either Crysis jungle looking or dark corridor shooting. So this is the first time we're really seeing what a "NEXT-GEN" kind of game looks like when applied to a kid-friendly colorful platformer style and the result is just jaw-droppingly incredible at times, especially later on in the game. The animations, the lighting, the whatever the fuck they do to the rock textures to make them look real...it all comes together as this close to finally hitting a playable Dreamworks/Pixar CG movie. Get it to 60fps and maybe we'd be there. Anyhow, game isn't perfect, it's not even near perfect (and has some design issues for sure) and I"m almost done with it and would give it a 7.5 as a game; but yeah it's everything I want out of a launch title and makes me excited about the next 5 years of games on this tech level. I liked Kameo a lot too for the same reasons on X360. That plus PGR3 were perfect launch titles.
KZ is shit, but it's kind of fun to laugh at while playing the campaign. Reallly enjoying ACIV. 100% perfecting the game so far and haven't done that since they introduced the sub-objectives in AC:B but the stealth (even as broken as it is) is so satisfying and fun here. Plus game looks good and never drops a frame from 30fps which is nice.
One thing that's interesting is the two launch 1st party titles are both pretty lengthy and difficulty. Not much to say about that other than it's interesting to see Sony's approach to launch games. Instead of being like "make short 3-5 hour flashy games" they obviously pushed to have lengthy titles that will last a while (though that hurts them too if the content doesn't deserve that kind of length like Knack) also in the age of easy games it's interesting seeing Sony 1st party games still pushing challenging games to the mainstream gamer.
But yeah, I still haven't finished a PS4 game and that's not because I don't play the system. I'm like 75% through Knack and 75% through KZ and 20% into ACIV and having a great time. Any complaints about the system from me are minor. The games look and run great, are fun, the UI is fantastic, the controller is top-notch. And it's region free and RGG/Yakuza is out in 3 months! 60fps/1080p RGG should be sweet.
So yeah, I'm having a great time (played Wii U a little and 3d World/Pikmin/W101 were all nice, but none of them made me want drop what I was playing on PS4 and jump into them first) and almost everyone with a PS4 is having a great time and really enjoying the system but all the people who don't have the system are looking on from the outside and complaining about and trolling it and I dunno, I'm having a good time so I don't really see the point in posting in a thread where I'm like "hey, this is fun" and everyone's like "no, it's sucks. You can't really be having fun" because it's just kind of pointless. But I guess that's the internet and forums. If you're having a good time, half the people are going to try to convince you that you aren't and everything you like sucks.
I'm sure the Xbone is a solid system too, but I'm not going into the Xbone thread and shitting on every interface glitch or DLC monetization or game quality or whatever because if people are having fun (which it seems they are) then more power to them. If I had infinite money I'd probably get an Xbone too just to play Dead Rising 3 because even if it's only 720p and has framerate problems, it looks fun and neat and that's what matters.
