Any case, when I was talking about worst fans...I was talking about the internet.

Many NBA fans remind me of wrestling marks. The kind of wrestling mark who thinks wrestling is real AND the kind that stand for one wrestler only even though there's lots of good wrestlers out there. So then when their wrestler loses - and it is scripted, remember - they get visibly angry and freak. You can see this behavior in a lot if NBA fans. The idol worshipping GOAT COUNT THE RINGS mentality pervades basketball and wrestling fan culture so fucking much it makes it hard for me to even discuss either of them. Speaking of which, this also ties into hip hop. Hip hop fans are similar too! It makes sense because rap and NBA culture are so tight knit.

And it also makes sense NBA fans remind of wrestling marks because they're both rigged.

Where I talk about it, people recognize Messi, Ronaldo, Pele, Maradonna, and Zidane as cream of the crop and fighting over who's the best is fucking stupid. It definitely exists because that type of player/fan rivalry exists in all sports, but when it comes to NBA fans, they take it to another level.

Dennis Bergkemp is definitely underrated, especially by youngings who don't know who is. A personal favorite of mine and the reason why the Netherlands is my 2nd favorite european team.

It's honestly funny that Himu is shitting on the NBA for GOAT talk, which is a frequent topic in EVERY FUCKING SPORTS COMMUNITY EVER.

It's a frequent topic in every sport, but it feels like it's more important to NBA fans because they want a new Jordan, so they have to compare everyone to Jordan and anyone as close to Jordan level as they can. There have been plenty "the next Jordan"'s, and the NBA media even tells a narrative of WHO'S THE NEXT JORDAN? which helps increase NBA fans giving a fuck about that.

NFL isn't like that, NHL may be like that because of Wayne Gretzky but I'm not sure but every hockey fan I read talking about hockey is cool, MLB isn't like that. Soccer-wise, MLS, EPL, Bundesliga, aren't like that. La Liga, in that they tell a narrative of Messi vs Ronaldo are kind of like that, but it's mostly rivalry.

It probably helps that with the rise of the Super Team and the NBA superstar, that NBA fans have less of a reason to care about whole teams and care more about individual superstars. The media helps reinforce this. I mean, every sport has its stars, but with NBA, it feels like the news reports on the stars and their comings and goings, than the actual teams. So it creates this disconnect. NBA right now comes off as a team sport headed by dudes who don't really do much team play or are the core strategy of a team.

And this in reflected in its fanbase.

Which is what I find highly annoying and why I don't watch anymore.
