I think PigSpeakers is tired of the place. Not that I blame him.

Nah, I still like it. I just have fun with it in a different way. It's still where I generally spend most of my unemployed days.

I am really surprised I didn't get a ban. I've only been banned once and it was for a joke thread about console rumors. The mod didn't think it was all that funny.
ok.

I got juniored for making a thread asking if Sony was the only console manufacturer still trying to win with a games lineup.

This was after Microsoft had basically closed all their first party studios, and Nintendo was down to 2-3 big games a year. I thought it was a valid question.

Evilore actually unjuniored me and gave me a new tag after I spoke to him during the LA GAF meetup. I liked that tag too. Fuck duckroll.

I have a strange feeling it was duckroll who banned me. My ban message was something along the lines of "Yeah. No rubbish joke threads."
ok.

This is going to be an exciting generation, I am glad Microsoft's console is different then Sony's, otherwise we would have a pretty boring competitive market.

Juniors that make huge elaborate posts like that don't last long. You've barely been on the forum and you're already taking that shit too seriously. Into the bushes you go.

Wait, so you did get banned after all? How long is it for?

Oh, no. I meant a previous ban. The only one I've ever had. Still not banned.

And I keep seeing on the GAF main page that I'm the only active user. Thinking this is some weird glitch.
ok.

Pretty much anyone stronger than me could crush my wrists. That's why I don't start nuttin'. It does suck feeling this weak and helpless. Even if worked out more I wouldn't gain much weight and I definitely wouldn't get taller.

A lot of people confuse retaliation for self-defense. Unless she's Gina Carano,* you don't have to try to knock her out to defend yourself.

What I'm saying is that we're (gradually... hopefully!) moving to a post-violence society in the U.S. Physical strength isn't going to be nearly as important as it used to be. I know we're not all the way there yet, but it's happening.

Right now, you can be a man and basically never have to physically defend yourself 99% of the time. Hopefully the continued fight against rape culture makes things safer for women too.

What, exactly, do you mean by a post-violence society?

Because I realize that my perspective isn't exactly going to be the norm (ie. I'm naturally going to see the worst sides of human nature), but I don't see anything you could call a "post-violence society" ever existing, at least not on any timescale we or our children are going to see.

Please....weak men are still pushed around at work, at the bar, at kid's football games, etc. Being tall and big is still a bigger asset than most. Especially when it comes to breeding.

Yes, violent men haven't needed large muscles to be violent for a long time.

Even if "physical strength isn't going to be nearly as important as it used to," this will, a most, mean there will be no selective advantage for physical strength. But unless physical strength (ignoring sex and age) is tied to violent proclivities, this will not lead to a "post-violent society." I assume, for the most part, physical strength (ignoring sex and age again) isn't correlated to violent personality traits.

Bingo!

Actually most of the guys I considered "big" like myself (over 6'2 over 220) generally are the nice guys. It's the short dudes that cause problems. We have all heard of short man's syndrome yes? Ever heard of big guy's syndrome? Me either.

A lot of violent people are thus because they feel weak about something. Typically they pick someone who can't or won't fight back. Big men don't have to feel weak but some of them do in fact lash out and cause harm. Then a bigger stronger man comes along and they fold in on themselves and cry like a baby. I've seen it.

Go with the taser...even with trustworthy roomates the last thing you want is for someone tp steal your pistol and shoot somebody with it.

A pistol grip taser is more than enough to let an asshole know you don't appreciate his existance. Good for having in your car or bedroom where you are most vulnerable.

I'm 24, 6 foot tall, and 150 pounds (slightly skinny) and I've NEVER had to defend myself anywhere in public. I guess some women feel insecure hanging with a shorter guy but as far as intimidation goes, I've never seen "weak men" get pushed around.

Okay I'm really 5' 11.5" and 155 pounds but I was just trying to make a point, jeezus. I was actually like 140 and the same height at the beginning of high school but now my ribs don't show and my muscles have decent tone.

I think there's something to smaller people escalating things faster than taller and bigger people because smaller stature is an obvious disadvantage. Raising a big stink, throwing around threats more readily etc. to prevent a situation from actually getting physical seems like a sensible tactic to me under those circumstances. Same for being more brutal when things actually do get physical. Simple scare tactics.
It's easy for tall people to be calm and collected when a would be opponent looks like a child relative to their size. If they are outnumbered however, I expect anyone to act like a smaller person (and to then run like there's no tomorrow, because fuck inferiror numbers).
