Eh, I understand what Oscar is getting at. Really, the only kind of cooking I like to do involves going outside and firing up the grill. Otherwise, the time it takes to prep food, cook food, and clean up the mess from all of this, it can consume more time in the evening than one might like. And that's not to say that it's not worth it, but when I was younger, a lot of my food was fast food anyway, so it was what I was accustomed to eating. The downsides as an adult with a family is that it's more expensive, and my metabolism isn't what it used to be.
But the appeal to me is clear. On those days when I just pick up something on the way home and eat in the car, I'm back home and plopped down on the couch at like 5:40 ready to watch TV or play with the kid or what have you. On nights where I'm cooking. It's often 6:30 by the time I've finished my food, and then there's a sink full of dishes and cookware that still needs to be dealt with.
