The whole "BUY. EVERYTHING." mentality from gamers from is both damaging and ridiculous. The abject commercialism that gamers express is probably the worst I've seen from any one fanbase. With gamers, it's release day or bust, more often than not, which creates a legacy of inflated hype for the most undeserving of products. I neglected playing my most hyped game of 2013 - Grand Theft Auto V - for nearly two months to offset my unrealistic expectations. When you you're that hyped, it can't be that healthy. But for some reason gamers revel in it.
