Sure. But I think there's a difference between indifference due to lack of awareness/lack of connection to the event, and actively flaunting indifference. If it seems like I don't care about the deaths of Iraqis, for instance, it's because I either don't hear about these stories or because they simply don't resonate with me because I've never been to the area and don't know any Iraqis. I have no tangible connection to the event, and therefore it has little impact on my life. But having said that, I would know better than to go into a thread where people who are genuinely mournful of such an event and offer inane charges of hypocrisy and deride the event with "who gives a shit?" level rhetoric due to a comparison with something worse occurring elsewhere in recent history.

I just can't work up a lot of care when there's a bombing in a country that gets bombed every week, just like I don't care every time there's a gun homicide in the US with a death toll of less than 10. In an apparent hospital mix-up, the parents of the second Boston marathon attack victim, Krystle Campbell, were initially told she was live and that her friend Karen had been killed. Via WCVB Boston:

    When William and Patty Campbell were finally allowed in to see the patient, they realized it was not their daughter.

    “I said, ‘That’s not my daughter, that’s Karen! Where’s my daughter?’" Patty Campbell said.

Investigators believe they have identified a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, a source who has been briefed on the investigation told CNN's John King exclusively.

The breakthrough came from analysis of video from a department store near the site of the second explosion. Video from a Boston television station also contributed to the progress, said the source, who declined to be more specific but called it a significant development.

Earlier, a federal law enforcement source with firsthand knowledge of the investigation told CNN that a lid to a pressure cooker thought to have been used in the bombings had been found on a roof of a building near the scene.

While such clues may move the investigation forward, they did not reveal whether the attack was an act of domestic or foreign terrorism.

I encouraged the runner to get to the airport way ahead of time for their return flight, because it is going to be crazy TSA time again for a while.
