Quote
In July 2020, while being interviewed by Darren Grimes on a podcast, Starkey said "Slavery was not genocide, otherwise there wouldn't be so many damn blacks in Africa or in Britain would there?"[58][59] The comments were rebuffed by former Chancellor [[Sajid Javid ]] who called them "racist" and said that they serve as "a reminder of the appalling views that still exist". The Mary Rose Trust accepted his resignation from the board of trustees[60][61] and the Historical Association announced on Twitter that it would withdraw the Medlicott Medal it had awarded him 20 years previously.[62] Cambridge University and Fitzwilliam College both distanced themselves from his comments and later accepted his resignation as an honorary fellow on 3 July 2020.[63][3] whilst Canterbury Christ Church University, where Starkey had been a visiting professor, removed him from that role in response to his "completely unacceptable" remarks.[64] History Today also removed him from their editorial board.[65] Lancaster University has confirmed that it has launched a formal review of Starkey's honorary graduate status.[66] HarperCollins announced it would terminate an ongoing book deal with Starkey; it is understood that they will no longer publish the two remaining books, including the second part to Starkey's autobiography. His previous publisher Hodder & Stoughton has also said that they "will not be publishing any further books by him".[67] Vintage Books announced it would be reviewing the status of books by Starkey in their back catalogue.[68] Also on 3 July 2020, at a meeting of the Royal Historical Society, the Society's Council resolved that Dr Starkey should be asked to resign his fellowship with immediate effect.[69]

So, there was a riot in Stuttgart recently.
https://www.dw.com/en/germany-riots-and-looting-grip-stuttgart/a-53886746

Stuttgart's police president announced today that they will be researching (and likely publicizing) the genealogies of those apprehended, including those with German passports, because 'all of Germany is watching' and 'the people' desperately want to know just who the perpetrators were, so that they can, uh... Hm. I don't know. Shake their fists at the sky, but with a clear picture in mind?

This is making me feel things, and I don't like any of those feelings.

Michel also proposed a compromise on governance of the recovery fund in an effort to bring the Netherlands on board with an agreement. That would be known as a “super emergency brake,” according to the document seen by POLITICO.

If a country objects to the disbursement of recovery funding, it can “request within 3 days … to bring the matter without delay, to the European Council or the Ecofin to satisfactorily address the matter.”

The Netherlands has demanded unanimity when deciding on disbursements, a position that is opposed by countries including Italy and Spain and that the Commission and Council say is not legally feasible.

Proud of our PM that our position is basically budget control over the entire EU or no pay day for anyone.

Once we get that super emergency brake

CONTE TO RUTTE: YOU WON'T BE A HERO FOR LONG

During a long meeting with frugal countries, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte warned his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte of the risks of blocking a deal, an Italian official briefed on the talks said.

“You might be a hero in your homeland for a few days, but after a few weeks you will be held responsible before all European citizens for blocking an adequate and effective European response,” Conte told Rutte, according to the Italian official.

Italy’s prime minister also stressed that the eventual cost of the recovery plan might be two or three times bigger if the EU fails to act immediately.

The amount now under discussion is the “bare minimum,” Conte said, adding that Dutch opposition risks destroying the EU single market.

I'm still shocked how our prime minister is clowning the entire EU like this :crazy

It's over we won.

I don't think the people negotiating with Rutte quite understand how stingy the man is(not greedy) and how he absolutely wrecked every populist challenger during the 10 years he has been our prime minister, including the infamous Geert Wilders.
Privately he drives a 1999 SAAB, mostly takes a bicycle or walks to work without any sort of security detail. He also still uses an old Nokia and teaches social studies on a high school once a week.
Other than that no one really knows anything about his private life except that he lives in a modest apartment and never spends a dime unless he absolutely has to.

Italy: "plz gib money for debt crisis we don't want to end like Greece we don't like Berlusconi anymore we promise"

Dutch: "Ok, now reform'

Italy: "Ok"

5 star movement / Salvini: "No reforms! We'll leave Europe! Abolish the Euro!"

Italy: "FUCK THE EU! We'll just run big deficits and retire at 25!!! FORZA SALVINI, FORZA CONTE!"

Dutch: "Ok, suit yourselves"

*COVID happens*

Italy: "Plz gib money for corona crisis"

Dutch: "You would've had this money if you had reformed. But ok, if you reform you can loan this money"

Italy: "You must gib money now our interest too high!!!"

Dutch: "Ok, so reform"

Italy: "NO JUST GIB MONEY!"

Dutch: "Lol, no"

Orban: "HAHA fuck the EU my dictatorship goes BRRRRR"

*COVID happens*

Orban: "EU is great, I love the EU, now give me some money"

Dutch: "You don't have as many cases, besides you don't respect the rule of law"

Orban: "This Dutchman is entirely responsible for the mess that is the EU"

The Italians are always anti-Europe when they need to get their shit together and pro-Europe when there's money on the table.
Same for that fat fuck Orban. They get what we intend to give them and not a cent more and because they think 350 billion in grants and 350 billion in loans is not enough they get nothing.

DUTCH DREAM COMES TRUE

Charles Michel's new proposal includes several key concessions to Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

The Netherlands is home to Europe's largest seaport, the port of Rotterdam — and Dutch officials have been fighting to keep a bigger portion of customs revenues that come through the port, meaning that a reduced amount would flow to the EU's coffers.

In the latest plan, Michel is proposing that member countries get to keep 25 percent of customs collected — an increase from 20 percent in his proposal on Saturday and 15 percent in a proposal put forward ahead of the summit. In February, Michel suggested this number be only 12.5 percent.

Ok it's almost time to sign this shit that Germany is mostly paying for :success

There needs to be a moratorium on "weaponizing" as a word. "Russia is playing with the hand they're dealt and leveraging its current situation and position" maybe is too long for a tweet and not as catchy.
