How hard is it to not beat your wife/fiance? Jesus...

Imagine being a professional athlete. Money out the ass, the ability to fuck nearly anyone you want, lots of down time during the week...why not just stay home and smash chicks? Why would you smoke weed or beat women when you can play videogames, bang chicks, have a chef cook for you, attend social events, watch movies in your expensive man cave, etc...

Why do we have to hold up football players to be some kind of moral totem poles? Why can't they just be dudes that are entertainers?  It's because culturally we put this overinflated importance on sports and money. So, if you are rich and/or can play sports, you now also have to have the same piety reserved for priests and politicians.

When I watch a juggler at a Cirque  show, I don't question if he has 5 DUI's or might have 3 domestic abuse cases against him. I just enjoy his performance and move on with my life once the show is over.

Exactly. Why can't these guys just be Derek Jeter: smash everyone, never have kids, never marry, eat at fine restaurants, become a god in your city, and receive awards you don't deserve.

Who wouldn't want to be Derek Jeter? A fucking distinguished mentally-challenged fellow, that's who.

Mine is less expecting them to be model citizens and more bewildered on how you can fuck up a good thing like that.

Most of them are 20-something old dudes with poor parenting and a (sports crazy) culture that enabled them their whole formative lives.

We all understand why children actors get fucked up, but put the blinders one when it comes to these athletes.

I don't really think asking people to not beat up other people is making them a moral totem pole. These are (albeit poorly prosecuted) criminal acts.

Asking them to, say, take a stance on Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) would be making them moral totem poles.

We all do, but that's a sad story for a different day.

I'll work for anyone with USD to spare, but I readily admit to my turpitude in this regard.

There's this question on the dating site I use, "Would you work in [country that's an enemy of the United States] for 1 year for $ 500,000.00?" and my thought in response to this question is only, "Shit, that's twice my buy it now price of 250K."

:beli

Tough game for the Lions today. Our secondary, which was already bleh, has been blown to shit in two weeks thanks to injuries. Run game is trash, although it should look good against the Packers' shitty d-line. Rodgers is going to throw for 400 yards today...

Niners been much better in the no huddle offense during this game. I hope they realize you can still burn clock with no huddle.

NFL rules are really starting to kill my enjoyment of the game. So many new rules each year introducing brand new gray areas.

The defense sucks
Offensive play calling is deplorable
Bullshit penalties that don't get called for any other team

Man...the Lions AND the Steelers got fucked by injures yesterday :fbm

Steven Tulluch, our MLB, is out for the year with an ACL injury after celebrating a sack. I know people are complaining about him celebrating but let's be real: 99.9% of the time nobody gets injured celebrating, so hand wringing over it is stupid.
