I'm still in shock. After the Seattle GB game I thought no one could possibly lose a game in a dumber fashion than GB, with McCarthy giving the game away. But now there's no debate, Seattle just committed what is arguably the worst choke/decision in US sports history.
Usually "we should have won the game" is an excuse for failure. The Dallas Detroit game is a perfect example: yes the refs fucked us but we had multiple chances to win that game and failed to do so. 3 points in the second half, horrible decisions, game ending turnovers. But here...if Lynch runs the ball they win the game, period. If Russell calls an audible, which IMO a Manning or Brady type would have, they win the game. No questions asked.
Crazy too early prediction: Seattle won't make the playoffs next season. I don't see how a team can come back from that, or trust their coach again. There were reports of players openly ripping the play call in the locker room and to the media. Now Russell will get his big contract, Lynch is likely gone, and that team has no one to replace him. You can't live on 3-4 huge pass plays a game.
My last Seattle prediction was wrong, I know. But this situation is too historic not to acknowledge.
