Fruitbat Factory announced on Tuesday that it is bringing Eiyuu Senki, the PlayStation 3 tactical role-playing game from developer TENCO and publisher MAGES. label 5pb.Games, to Europe and North America simultaneously. The localizer told the Gematsu website that the game will have a digital-only release.

The "mix of a strategy game, RPG and visual novel" features over 70 characters by Oyari Ashito and other artists. Fruitbat Factory describes the story:

In a world where powerful nations run rampant and heroes battle one another for supremacy, the great nation of Britannia seeks to unite the world through peaceful means while the European Union has adopted an aggressive policy and the Seafaring Nation of Vinland thrives on pillage and plunder. Far in the east, the small nation of Zipang is stuck fast in a quagmire of civil unrest.

In the midst of all this, our memory-loss stricken main character has a fateful meeting with a Hero of Yamatai, Himiko. Together they settle Zipang's internal disputes and set off into a world covered with the burning embers of war.

“As long-time fans of tactical RPGs we're very excited to get to work on this title, which we've seen many fans wishing to be localized. We are aiming to release Eiyuu Senki simultaneously in North America and Europe, and will give more updates as they happen.” -Jakke Elonen.

Looking beyond the fanservice, are these games any good?

Senran Kagura is one of those rare games that actually plays well and doesn't just rely on tons of fan service for everything, although if that's not your thing, Shinovi Versus raises that level quite a bit over the 3DS original/Burst and "life and hometown" are all over the place.  There is an embarrassing amount of tits and ass in the Vita games, so avoid if that's a turn-off.  That said, the game play is solid, there's a lot more storyline than you might expect, and any in-game cut scenes, including the transformation cut scenes and super move start-ups, can be skipped instantly.  This is a good, hyper-perverted, brawler.
