Looks like Yedlin is going to Tottenham. Do y'all think it's a good fit? Still salty Roma didn't nab him during the summer :tocry

I'd hope it propels him to some other better European team. Sometimes it's better than just being signed to a bigger team and left on the bench. In Spurs he'll get some decent time on the pitch.

Tottenham is probably the top end for him. To be a CL level outside back you shoukd really be able to do work offensively too. Lahm, Marcelo, Cashley, young Sergio Ramos, etc.

Unless you can absolutely lock your side down and I dont see that in Yedlin

Fucking :dead

West Ham shaving a week off my lifespan with this stress :whew

A great game though. Adrian and chesney both had really good turns in GK, some wonderful passing play.

Penalties everywhere.

great game which we would've buried by half time if not for a shithouse ref being bought off by the promise of some nice tight arse after the game.

shocking decision. gooners showing some spurs level delusion in not holding their hands up to it, too.

I don't really follow pro soccer, so maybe someone can educate me. Has a professional team ever picked up and moved to another city? The same way it has happened in American sports? if so, what is the most famous example of it happening?

Don't really know about any. Soccer clubs generally are deeply rooted in the union aspect, so they are/were owned by the club members. While this has changed in the last two decades and many pro teams are separated and changed into corporate like entities, the connection to the hometown of a still remains as the most important identity establishing aspect of a club. Also clubs are parts of national league system with lots of divisions. A relocated club should theoretically have to requalify for the top division, which could take 5 or more years depending on the number of divisons in a league system.

the only one I can think of is AFC Wimbledon moving from LLondon to Milton Keynes to become Mk Dons. AFC eventually got a team again although they hhad to start at like the 10th level of the pyramid and they had open tryouts to fill spots.

Overall it's a lot more rare in Europe because there is more of a community feel to sports fandom there.

he's doing good but w/ us if you're not #1 then there's shit that needs to be figured out. that's just the nature of the job.

our shit away form and lack of real attacking threat leaves a lot to be desired. we can still perform much better with what we have.

and for the love of god ditch the 3-5-2.

Denmark should have qualified over them anyway. The result yesterday was some of the weirdest stuff I've seen for years. They score a 3-0 goal, and just before it crosses the line, the ref blows the whistle for offside.

Turns out to not be offside, when reviewed on VAR.

But the ref fucked up and blew the whistle just before it actually went in, so he can't legally give the goal, despite there not being an offside.

I am watching it even though it might as well be a different sport.
But I have never had the same "what am I doing with my life?" moment that I had watching Tunisia play against Angola in an empty stadium in Egypt. So I guess there's that.
