That thread legitimately makes me want to take all of the alcohol out of my cupboard and drink it all out.
Holy fucking shit.
Putting any effort to post music from excellent videogame composers is moot.
"Yeah, its good, but it isn't Nintendo good" would be the automatic response.
Even if you link a piece of music from another company/non-Nintendo IP/non-fave company IP from where the composer formerly worked (or even linking a piece that the composer did as an original/standalone piece), the answer will 80% of the time be somewhat similar to "Yeah, well, it's not from Nintendo (or even [insert other company here like Sony, MS, etc), so it's not
as good as a [insert company name here] product's."
It's a shame. There are hundreds of soundtracks released every year, most of which are really great in their own right. It's
much easier to get your hands on game music these days with sites like Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon, etc. But ignoring those soundtracks and only paying attention to one select company's soundtracks is just... limiting to me, you know? Expand your horizons a bit. The same could be said for video games: paying attention to one company's games and ignoring everyone else just closes you off from understanding what would make a good game, what would make a bad game, and making you understand that a lot of people can make way different games that can be really cool.
Making huge assumptions like "this company is the best ever for __________ and no one can ever top them" is very closed-minded, especially if you haven't expanded your horizons very much.
