How did porno theaters ever come into existence though if they didn't provide you with enough personal space to do your business? Don't tell me people just sat there and watched and did nothing else. Unless every theater was named The Blue Balls Experience.

Soon console gaming will be dead and it will be all PC and mobile. Tyler doesn't want GAF to shit on half the future basis of the site.

Japan is first man in the future. Mobile games and PC hentai.

Tyler should have sold the site already. I bet it's a little late to cash in. I mean he still *could* sell it but the money wouldn't be the same as it was at the beginning of the 360/PS3 launch.

The audience is skewing older and no longer representing current gaming. It'll stay popular but it'll just be a bunch of people bitching about how their hobby sucks now, like a forum of HAM radio operators jacking off to the idea that their hobby will be relevant/save the world.

He's never gonna sell it. He has no identity outside of owner of this "social network".

The sale of business property is (grossly simplifying) capital gain for income tax purposes and I presume NeoGAF, LLC has existed longer than a year so his tax rate will be nothing that high. Additionally Texas has no individual income tax because it's a quaint ideological tax backwater.

Mobile killed Silent Hills, so obviously some people are going to be salty.

Mobile is also devastating the dedicated handhelds which some people will resent.

Then again why shouldn't it? Most people just want to kill some time playing games on the go and would rather do it on the phone they already have rather than shelling out for the privilege of entering the Nintendo ghetto and dealing with that Fisher Price hardware and overpriced games. Plus playing a 3DS in public, LOL!

I didn't know Square had mobile games.

Might have to download one. I can probably tolerate touchscreen controls in an RPG.

I suggest Final Fantasy: All the Bravest, one of the greatest RPG's in the last 10 years.

I think the iPhone 6 Plus is the first smartphone that I can stand to play games on.  Fuck the virtual d-pads.

For what it's worth, mobile is the future of gaming.  Once console gaming collapses, a lot of PC gaming will dissipate along with it because the PC model for many publishers/developers is based on the assumption that they can port it to everything including your toaster.  With consoles and handhelds fading away, it's only going to be PC or mobile.  For sure, companies like Valve or Blizzard will do just fine but it's not going to be pretty for a lot of current publishers/developers.  So as much as I dislike mobile gaming, it's the future.  That or work your way through thousands of good games you haven't played from the past.

I think you spelled "because an individual income tax is bullshit" wrong.

Sales and property taxes are just as bullshit (the latter moreso imo) yet exist in the state's tax regime.

Because of that arbitrary prescribed limitation, Texas has a ridiculous tax like the margin tax.

I disagree, private property should be abolished, but everyone should still be taxed on the value of it. The value can simply be set by the state.

I feel like a ton of VII's writing quality was lost in the bad translation.

And Xenosaga is "just ok?" It's pretty darn good. I mean the storytelling could be better, but the writing itself is absolutely amazing.

Let's not forget games like the Baten Kaitos series, the Chrono series, Final Fantasy IX/X/Tactics/XII, Lost Odyssey, Shin Megami Tensei, Shadow Hearts 1 and 2, Silent Hill 2, the Suikoden series, Planescape: Torment, The Witcher series, the Mass Effect series, Persona 2, Spec Ops: The Line, NIER, Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, the Bioshock series, the Portal series, The Last of Us, The Walking Dead series, Deus Ex, etc. etc.

To be fair: A lot of the PC audience "never asked for this." It was a certain subset that mixes with mobile games. But yeah, since Valve opened the store up a bunch of mobile-crap-level games have come in with a bunch of mobile-decent shit.

See, this is my problem. You have people saying this while defending console games, as if Drive Club, Watchdogs, et al aren't bastions of mediocrity.

Face it. Just about everything in modern mainstream entertainment - short of some tv shows - are catered to mediocrity. The same is true for games, no matter the platform. Virtually almost every entertainment hobby now, in the year of our lord 2015, requires you to dig to find quality and gems, whether it be music, games, or movies.

Everyone recognizes this, but doesn't want to put in the work when talking about a platform they've barely experienced.

That actually isn't fair, as PC also had its thing with flash and facebook games way before mobile ever became a thing. Remember Newgrounds? There are millions of flash games and shit games made every day for pc, steam or not. But like any enthusiast, you learn to filter them out.

Not sure why coming out and implying someone is a child molester with seemingly no basis for that claim is allowed.

Well, yeah. But in the SH series, the fact that it rarely takes itself super seriously adds a lot of depth to its writing and comedic timing. It makes the moments where the story does take a turn for the dramatic that much better, because the writing doesn't fall apart when those things happen.

There is a lot of great writing in all three of the games, but it does have a lot of silliness and that's inherent in the fact that it satirizes the modern world 75% of the time.

This also doesn't take into account Koudelka, which probably has the strongest writing of all of Sacnoth/Nautilus' games, thanks in no small part to having particularly great voice acting in the PSX era.
