It's tough because while there is nothing overtly or even covertly racist about it, there is still something uncomfortable about four white dudes from a wealthy area calling themselves Hindu Pirates. Just as a visual it felt off. Not in an appropriative way, either. It was interesting.

It is not.
It's only eugenics if your intention is to increase genetic fitness on a population-level.

A parent-to-be should always have the choice to use selective abortion to ensure they get an as healthy child as possible - because believe it or not, parents want healthy children.

Increasing genetic fitness on a population level doesn't sound bad.

Maybe we could strip out the bad parts and just keep the good parts. No blanket bans on reproduction, but we could use stuff like this:

and other medical techniques to eliminate the worst heritable diseases while maintaining the freedom for everyone to become parents. People from families with histories of recessive genetic disorders could get free carrier identification screenings, and if they turned out to carry those genes and still wanted children, they could be eligible for free medical engineering to ensure that they got a healthy embryo that could be carried to term normally and would still be 100% their child.

I can see this being a huge net plus for the world with the potential to prevent unfathomable amounts of suffering.

No, eugenics is dumb.

It puts us on a fast track towards genetic homogeneity from which it will be hard to return from as a result of there being physiological & psychological ideals in society, and these technologies being capable of making your child adhere to those ideals by opting for the "Deluxe Geneenginerring"-package as you decide to get children.

Genetic homogeneity is bad for obvious reasons, and while the above will no doubt happen there is no reason to speed the process up. Better to just focus on the removal of conditions that are tough on children and/or their parents.

The blend of silly retro-future, Vincent's determination, Jerome's misanthropy, a hokey murder mystery, sibling rivalry at the genetic level, lying to a lover about who you are at the genetic level.

So much of the movie takes place in just 2 sets (the house, the facility) yet you never get bored because of this, it's really impressive.

Then when the movie leaves those 2 sets for some key emotional moments it enhances the catharsis because you're breaking free of the mundanity like Vincent is trying to with his con.

Anyway I ain't saying we should create a race of ubermensch cacs. I'm just saying that we could largely eliminate things like cystric fibrosis, Down's Syndrome, and other genetic diseases that cause a ton of suffering using technology that either exists today or will exist in the next decade or so.

If done on a case to case basis (as in, parents opt in to do it) I have nothing against it and wouldn't call it eugenics.

Gattaca was amazing.  Niccol got much better performances out of Thurman and (especially) Hawke than they're normally capable of.  Not to mention Jude Law was just out of control good.

Sure, it's completely reasonable, but why wait?

If you just want to kill your way to a better future, just cull our species of any carriers, no need to limit yourself to their offspring, as that takes so much more time and money and effort and research, yet it's morally no different whatsoever.

Just mandate the test and shoot anyone who fails or refuses.  Problem solved.  Good plan?  Great plan.

I had to take it off my phone because that I was playing for a while when I should've been playing something else. 

I don't like how it looks, but there's a lot of stuff to do and it's interesting as a take on gaming Hollywood, social climbing, and social media (ex: Willow Pape subtweeting you or you gaining followers for doing dumb shit).  Though if you're looking for interesting gameplay, you're probably not going to find it because you're tapping circles and waiting before tapping circles again.  It's just a decent timewaster even if you don't get a lot of choices. 

Basically Willow Pape sucks.
