The way some people get offended when you state you don't think a game is as good as most people think it is, you'd think you insulted their mother or wished death upon their family or something, I'm not much a gamer nowadays ( I don't think I ever was tbh) so I find the whole thing amusing.

Every time I do someone gets personally offended and calls me names, tells me to fuck off, to suck their "throbbing phallus", that it's not good to smoke crack before posting, or says I have a stick up my ass just because I don't like the same game they do.

Yeah, I think I'm done talking about them. I quit. It sucks because it's really the only outlet I have where I can talk about them, unfiltered, but people always take it personal when we're talking about fucking video games. Don't know where to go from here, but I'm done with the internet gaming community. I realize my opinions can often be strong, but that's no excuse for a lack of tact and insulting me as a person. This always happens and I'm sick of it, and it won't end unless I stop because my views never really go with the grain, and constantly clash. Talking about games has become very, very unfun for me, for what should be a fun outlet of expression.

The best video game related discussions I've had were never on the internet. It's always been with friends and acquaintances that I know in meat space.

I could just imagine what it would be like if someone went all uber-fantard in real life. The person would be looked down upon as an unbending special fellow and would be ostracized instantly.

iirc I mentioned this once before here but a year or so ago I was in line at target and this 20 something dude a couple people in front of me was getting a vita game. whatever, no big deal. as it so happens, that game was persona 4 arena. checkout guy says something to the effect of 'Oh, I've heard about this one'.

This is where things when horribly wrong. Dude not only launches into the gameplay system of arena, but goes into the gameplay mechanics of persona 4 itself, and how it differs from earlier persona games, gives specific 'cool' examples of these mechanics (something about mixing ice gems or whatever), and does so for a couple minutes while the clearly regretful dude uhuh's and nod's while helping other customers.

I wanted to go home and burn all of my videogames

This is making me special fellow angry because 1) P4U isn't on Vita and 2) the gameplay systems aren't mixing gems. You're probably thinking of Street Fighter x Tekken.

I've had this type of thing happen where I'm talking to my aforementioned friends about how bad I think something is and out of nowhere someone else (usually an acquaintance I don't know as well) will butt in to claim how I'm wrong about that. I used to talk back about that, but lately I just go "I see" and drop the subject entirely.

Flying into San Francisco last weekend was the first time I had seen, or at least noticed, consulting firms holding named welcome signs in the arrival area. Saw PwC, Accenture, and I think Deloitte.
