nah they should have gone straight for an minimal-narrative detective-style alone in the dark vibe*. they really fucked the world they built up by nailing it to a super conventional linear shooter that was already done better 10 years ago.
imagine how interesting it would be to play a character, part of some ancient underground society pledged to investigate supernatural shit, tasked to uncover what's really up with these mysterious murders taking place (lead into jack the ripper plotline), being sent on red herrings in the form of lycans and rebels, and slowly piecing together what's up
on your own. you could explore areas of london, qte investigate some crime scenes (maybe wander to a active crime scene and have a close shadowy chase with the vampire behind it all), talk to locals, engage in a few moments high tension shoot gallery shit in the process, while trying to keep out of the eye of the general populace. but no you're dragged by the nose through forced run/stealth sections and infinite ammo rockets.
it would also make sense for the hyper tech aspect of this game to stay below the surface, since the game apparently has super genius telsa crafting you dope weapons that are far beyond what your average dude is rocking. also would force the player to engage in their actions more intellectually.
at least that's what I would do.

*as cheesy as alone in the dark was in points having some random monster crash through a window while you're just walking the fuck around raises your heart rate tenfold. fuuuu just thinking about it.
