Wait, you carry shit for a distance of 5 miles? That’s wild man. I was going to suggest cutting down on the walking focusing on getting your jogging distance up but it sounds like you’re on course for your big fight with Drago so I’ll just see myself out.

Watched a family of 5 raccoons just now outside my place.  They are really really rare in Saskatoon so I only started seeing them once I moved to Toronto.  My phone is a POS so this is the best I could do.

(Image removed from quote.)

Those raccoons put the "private property" signs up btw.

That’s really impressive Stro. I’m just a skinny dude who likes to run and try to hit 20 miles per week. I really wish I enjoyed weight training though. I do maybe 30 min per week of pushups and resistance band bullshit, just enough to keep my arms from achieving fettuccine status.

today i discovered photos of what i looked like as a baby for the first time in my life :rock :rock :rock

edit: actually i should add some context. when my family came to the u.s. from the old country when i was a kid, nearly all the pictures they had of me at the time were either lost or destroyed. because of that, i never knew what i looked like as a wee toddler. apparently my bro discovered some old albums at my grandparents place that still managed to have a few pics. pics that i've never seen or was even aware of until now.

i got back all the backpayment for my unemployment benefits! :rock :rock :rock

we're talking multiple thousands of dollars here, so not exactly chump change. and shockingly enough, it was taken care of in the most easy, straightforward manner. the UE rep didn't give me any hassle whatsoever.

also, it probably shouldn't be a triumph to celebrate getting things that i should have had in the first place, but whatever. i'm still happy. :rock

Summer is dead and gone but there's always tons of bugs around right after that flee into your house trying to survive the cold.
So yesterday I bought 2 cans of bug-spray and went full John Wick on the motherfuckers.

This morning I found half a dozen flies dead or crawling around nearly dead. Today I will banish them into the realm of the vacuum cleaner  :rash

Joined the church of Elon Musk today  :-[

Prob the most luxury me and my wife will ever own.

Overall monthly costs will actually less per month than our current car.

Feels weird as we live pretty basic in an old fixer upper that has a lot of work left and we are thrifty. Kids get second hand clothing , no latest greatest tech either in our house, no fancy holidays (in fact we will try not to fly again). Maybe that's why we could afford it :)

Well sort of.

All cars in Denmark are taxed 25% or so.

Then on top of that there is a registration fee on every car based on it's value. This fee is INSANE. The fee is 85% of the car value up to approx 25k euro and a further 150% on anything above.

This means that a Volkswagen T-Cross that costs 19000 euro in Germany, costs 28000 euro in Denmark (the math doesn't quite work but its an example I could find).

As I said insane.

Now electric cars are exempt from this registration fee until January. Then year by year there will be "gleichschaltung".

So in January the price of many EVs (like the model 3) will go up easily by 15000 euro.

Right now the Model 3 is cheaper then a RAV4 hybrid, Skod Kodiaq, VW Tiguan... So an amazing deal!

Socialism isnt free :-)

Dentist check up after a year and a half - no issues and my gums look good.  First time they haven't told me to fix my habits.  Think its cause I bought an electric toothbrush.

Chrono, are you teetotalling now? Any reason why?

On Saturday, I got right back stuck in. Add about a liter of nihonshū with a couple of cool dudes from work via video conference.

I had taken that Sunday through Friday as a break for my liver, and because I wanted to see if it would help me sleep better. It did not. However it did improve my digestion. I am likely to take more of these breaks, but not tonight.

went to the doctor again on wednesay and he gave me another cortisone shot (this time in a different area). i don't want to jinx it, but my finger is more mobile and less swollen now. Mind you, it'll still take about a week or maybe even two before the full effects kick in, but the current status is pretty good so far. i feel far less pain now than i've had since march.

pray for me, folks!  :doge

oh man. guys...again, i don't want to celebrate too soon, but my progress is going pretty damn well so far. for the first time in two years, i was actually able to hold a game controller and play for extended periods of time with no pain whatsoever (for those of you curious, it was smb: the lost levels, and yes, i suuuuuck at it).

i think this may be it people. i think i'm FINALLY on the path to full recovery :rock :rock :rock

ALL’S FARE IN LOVE AND WAR

It was bothering me that the lamest, buggiest Achievement on 360’s GTA V was not unlocking in PS4 either. I had 90% completion and knew I’d get riled if I finished everything and still didn’t have that one. I’m under stress at work, and it compounds my compulsive tendencies, so I get stuck on weird stuff like this.

Started a new game, played all the way through to purchasing properties (2-3 hrs), and managed to get the mission for unlock less than 40 minutes after buying the property. I know it’s silly, but I was happy to get it.

1. recycled my bicycle on neighborhood "big garbage" day
2. went for a (brief) run
3. disassembled my MBP, replaced its fan, re-greased heatsink
4. didn't break MPB
5. shaved my head
6. went shopping in downtown Osaka for supplies (and thermal paste), wore mask, didn't touch face, washed hands
7. did laundry

I only have one day off this week, today, so I am happy it was productive

Yeah that sounds like what equates as a good day at this age

Remember Chrono when a good day off was waking up at 10 with a slight hangover from the night before and playing vidya or watching shit while eating shit the rest of the day?

Neither do I

Purchased a new guitar as a reward for putting in hours upon hours of painfully slow practice to get to legitimate face melting shred status. I’ve played for almost 20 years and really never put the time into the grueling practice that is required to shred like Eddie Van Halen, Paul Gilbert or Eric Johnson. Well, I started that process back in March, have been pretty consistent in my daily 1 hour routine and I am getting there, I’m not there but I’m getting there. I really didn’t think I would be able to but just kinda put my faith in the “practice makes perfect” mantra and it’s paying off.

My ultimate goal is to play this note for note.

My new guitar

Good morning Boritos. :)

I'm back from my mental health break and a lot of things have happened, pretty much all of them positive.

- Evangelion 3.0+1.0 got a, hopefully final, release date :heartbeat
- I won "Best Short Script" for a horror-comedy where CatsCatsCats semi-inspired the main character (including name) 🥇
- On National Coming Out Day, I finally came out to my parents and told them I intend to live openly as a gay man; it went well and I feel loved :D
- I'm about halfway through developing my own Game Boy game (a simple 2D platformer) using GB Studio, based on designs I made in *2010 :o
- Got good enough at the piano to play AND sing at my parents' anniversary (weeb song choice: Don't Think Twice by Utada-san <3), they seemed to enjoy it :heart
- *knock on wood* Nobody in the family has caught COVID yet (Thanksgiving will be a big test...) 😬
- This shitty year (dad with cancer in Jan, since recovered in June; the death of the 13-year old family dog in May; mom with unexpected open heart surgery in July) has made me 10x more resolved to put myself and my family in a better place next year
- And, importantly, Trump was not re-elected 🙏🏻
