Weird SF characters are the worst. Blanka sucks. I can tolerate stuff like Dhalsim. He does Yoga, he can stretch! Or shooting fireballs. Or psycho crushes. But stuff like Blanka, those SF3 characters, or awful characters like Hakan or Rufus drive me nuts. All of them suck. For me it's not even a canon thing. I just don't like them and never have. SF is perfectly capable of being goofy while still not straying within the confines of the tone it creates. Sakura and Dan are great examples. So it's hardly because I'm a stick in the mud. But then you have someone like Seth, who has a giant Ying Yang on his stomach and I just instantly say,"that character blows and I will judge anyone who uses him." But I'm anal when it comes to fighting game rosters. I have the same problem with Tekken. Here we have a series with cool looking guys with lighting gloves and capoeira users, and on the other end...kangaroos with gloves and fighting bears. I just don't like that.
I like it when fighting games stick to similar casts. If you go weird, go completely weird (Darkstalkers). If you go normal, go completely normal (Virtua Fighter). If you're going to make your game have human characters but with fireballs, cool, but don't mix it with the stupid weird shit. SNK games like KOF, Fatal Fury, Last Blade, and Samurai Showdown are great examples! You'll have dudes doing bustah wolfs, but you'll NEVER see anyone fighting a kangaroo with boxing gloves.
Call me a stick in the mud all you want, but weird characters are

and always will be unless it's a weird ass fighting game in the Darkstalkers/Project Justice/Rival Schools/Versus/Guilty Gear/Blaz Blue vein.
Laura looks cool.
