Naw, Yokai is cool. SamSho usually never had an issue with this, because even when it goes weird, it was usually still pretty cool. Show me a weird SF character as cool as that. Also, I never said SS never had weird characters. It has its share. It has a big fat dude with a giant iron chain and a uguu girl with a hawk she talks to. However, as weird as SamSho ever got, the characters still fit within the game. The original argument was that SNK games don't have anything nearly as goofy as Kangaroos with boxing gloves, and for the most part, they didn't. Compare to SF, and most weird characters are weird and random. Most of them are lame like Twelve, or Seth, or Hakan. Also, unlike those other games, mythological/weird characters make sense within the context of Samurai Shodown, being a game taking place in feudal Japan with spirits and stuff. On the other hand, going from lightning gloves to Kangaroos with boxing gloves is a pretty stark departure.
