Matches were sparse for me on Friday, but on Sunday I got match after match while in training mode. Things took a while when I went to casuals mode. I like that casuals still give you xp and fight points. I also like that you still get fight ponts even if you lose, because that means the game doesn't punish you for growing as a player. I lost a lot until I got a handle on Nash and Chun Li and my experience was really positive.
SFV has the makings of a classic based on the beta. The fighting was no nonsense, and it was incredibly poke oriented due to damage. There was a mix of footsies and rushdown that feels like a balance of SFII, SF Alpha, SFIII, AND SFIV. It's an amalgamation of everything that has defined Street Fighter over the years without giving a lot of characters ways to back out of their decisions like FADC or even parry in some cases.
Another great thing is chip damage. Block has no chip. I had a lot of fights where I and the other fighter had a sliver of life left, and despite all of our blocks, the other person wouldn't go down. The only way to chip is through a critical art. So this resulted in a lot of footsy heavy fights where when life was low, we'd pace ourselves and try to beat the other player's attack, and this is at the mid-level. Imagine this sort of exciting, exhilarating play for EVO and high level play, and it already has the makings of classic matches.
TLDR: SFV could be very well be a classic in the making based on the beta.
Bork, as a Nash player, pressure him and get knock downs. Nash has no invincible moves aside from his ex flash kick.
