I wasn't talking about casuals in that post. I was talking about the hardcore people who have been playing SFV non-stop but still say "i dunno about this game fam. It kinda sucks"
Those guys said that the same thing about SF4.
And I am not talking about a specific post but what you've been posting over the past few days.
It's not that I don't understand casuals matter.
I never said they don't matter. I was once a casual too.
It's that I don't understand people who don't like fighting other people. I too was a casual once. But I still enjoyed fighting other people. Before online play days I was big on single player content and you can check my post history on this but only because online was not where it is today and getting to an arcade was never guaranteed. In the ps2, DC, and ps1 days having single player content meant literally the entire game if you didn't have friend who also liked fighting games. So when online became palpable, of course I jumped online, because I always preferred playing actual people but never really could. It's not that I don't understand casuals matter, it's more like I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the casual who doesn't like fighting people at all. Whereas I'd try to get my character to 10th Dan in VF or going through world tour mode in Alpha 3, or story mode in GGXX, fighting AI was done out of necessity in order to play fighting games rather done out of preference.
As an only child it harkened back when I'd play Fatal Fury Special on my Game Gear by myself out of necessity, not because I preferred it. So with the option to fight other people, and my arcade roots, despite being a former casual (although still passionate) fighting game fan I'm still new to the idea of people LIKING that stuff rather than playing it because they have no other choice. It's not that I don't like that stuff too. But I'd rather play other people and that's what made me competitive.
In my mind, online should be good enough until they add cinematic story mode and other modes. People who prefer single players to playing other people...that's new to me.
As I said many times, I understand and don't understand. I never considered casuals who don't like fighting other people or that they even fucking exist.
Max's video helped explain the situation in a better way than other people. I take those modes for granted and just assumed other casuals jumped online as well. It just seems like the natural logic especially in SFIV where arcade mode is so barebones as is.
