You can't gay bash anymore. You can't talk about those lazy mexicans. You can't proudly wear your confederate flag wife  beater anymore. We just had a black socialist president.

What is happening!?

Radio host Colin Cowherd no longer will appear on ESPN following comments he made questioning the intelligence of Dominican Republic players related to baseball one day earlier, the company said in a statement Friday.

"Colin Cowherd's comments over the past two days do not reflect the values of ESPN or our employees," ESPN said in a statement. "Colin will no longer appear on ESPN."

And of course the Hulk Hogan story today.

Might as well have a catch all thread.

I've already mentioned it a shitload but working with old ass cacs as my clients in agriculture means I deal with the bottom barrel of conservative society. I mean the kind of people who believe Trump has a shot and the solution to our immigrant/terrorist problems is to shoot the issue dead on sight.

2015 brehs, if you're brown, the people that grew the food on your table prob want you out of the US.

Dude has been saying borderline to blatant racist shit for YEARS and nothing has happened. Even in this case...we've known for awhile that he's moving to Fox Sports so this ESPN "ban" is meaningless.

So much of sports media revolves around white male resentment, especially today. Cowherd has one of the biggest platforms of anyone who perpetuates that shit. And it's always petty shit you can imagine someone defending in the typical "well he wasn't talking about the entire race/I can't stand politically correctness these days/etc" fashion.

When you boil his shit down to its core he's constantly talking shit and making broad generalizations about non white "culture." You hear it in his John Wall attacks, the Dominican stuff, etc.

Cowherd has always been a racist piece of shit. This is nothing new. And he never faces consequences because when you boil it down, a lot of sports radio is fueled by white male resentment.

edit: I hate Cowherd so much I thought I was in seperate thread and made another hate post on this fuckboy

This tends to be what bothers me in general rather than the actual comments a lot of the time. (The comments are stupid too). It's this laser focus they have on every other group and the failings of them but the inability to see issues within their own group. Or understand the history of why certain things are as they are. Because their group is the "standard" for them not just in measurable terms but norms. So they can't see the flaws. It's just natural for them. Happens a lot with large numerical majorities. That ability to criticize every other group.

I'm speaking towards the ones who I give the benefit of the doubt to. Not the blatant evil purposely racist agenda driven ones like Fox News.

I get madder I think at Fox News type stuff for whatever reason, because I feel they do it for legit evil reasons and there is a plan behind it rather than just individual dumb misguided reasons that an individual like Cowherd might have.

Although at a certain point, its splitting hairs I understand.

It's because idiots are able to quickly love the personality of a public figure they've never met. That's probably why stupid people think they have a good chance at acting/sports despite their lack of skill.

"In my stomach," Sheikh Snake says before detonating his suicide bomb.

Yesterday at work someone called a shoddy but quick fix "Afro-engineering" and my manager said, "What did you just say?"

I thought it was reprimand time but the guy repeated himself and my manager repeated him and burst out laughing.

^

i had a similar convo with my old man a couple years back.

<after using some zip ties and electrical tape to fix some bad wiring in their backup generator>

"welp, we jury-rigged that one" :whew

"dad, that doesn't mean anything." :goty2

"what?"  :larry

"'jury rigging' means to influence the outcome of some event so judgment falls in your favor. i think you meant to say something else." :ufup

" ... well, you get mad when i say 'n*gger-rigging'."  :heh

"yup, i'm mad."  :flabbypd
duc

Is jerry-rigged acceptable? I just looked it up and it seems it was first used in the 1950s (maybe when the more racist version became less acceptable?) and that it was probably a combination of jerry-built and jury-rigged.

Jerry-built means built hastily and was first used in the 19th century. Who is jerry? Is this racist toward German people or just some guy who was bad at building things?

We use the term Polish Engineering at our house to refer to a quick, yet genius fix. Our friend is Polish, and his dad and him are always fixing shit with a quickness better than anything we could've come up with. They are both ridiculously smart.

People always think we are making "dumb Pollack" jokes though.

Jury rigging refers to makeshift repairs or temporary contrivances, made with only the tools and materials that happen to be on hand, originally a nautical term. On sailing ships, a jury rig is a replacement mast and yards (which hold the ship's rigging) improvised in case of damage or loss of the original mast.
