Yays
+ Finished my MBA.  Graduated with honors and in under two years.
+ Traveled outside of the country for the first time ever.  Now it's probably going to be an annual thing.
+ Probably got laid more than the past six or seven years, which is due to...
+ Spent less time on the internet than since I was a teenager.
+ Worked my way through most of my e-book backlog.  It was up to about 100 titles at one point.

Nays
- Work keeps jerking me around.  It's ending this year on a positive note but that is not a guarantee by any means.
- Still wasted money on vidya I will likely never get around to playing.  I likely spent far less this year than in previous years but it's still throwing money away if I don't play that often.
- Stock market was kind of a bust this year.  I was fortunate enough to dump thousands of dollars in the market when it was below 16,000 but I didn't get much of a return this year.

Gays
~ Got hit on by a few teh gheys this year.  Each time it was when I was walking my dog.

Overall a yay year for me.

Relocated from one coast to the other, in school for what I've wanted to do for a very long time. We don't have much funds coming in at the moment but the potential future is exciting, so I'm not entirely yay or nay on this year and thus 2015 is a hah, gayyyyy~

+got promoted and seem poised to get another one
+had a great summer, workout wise. Really accomplished what I set out to do in terms of cardio
+carved out a decent amount of time for volunteer work which has been pretty cool
+met a special person

-witnessed a lot of fun, older coworkers retire
-fears of commitment persist, and I worry I might do something stupid if I don't grow some balls and be happy for once
-still miss my favorite uncle, who died last year. Just like last year, I found myself chilling at family events, looking around for him so we could talk about the most nerdy or pathetic shit; found myself doing that again this Thanksgiving, and I'll do it on Christmas too. He used to joke that one day he'd get old, and I'd have to come over in the summer to cut his grass and then watch the SyFy channel with him. Real bummed that's no longer going to happen.

+had some sex with multiple different women
+did a bunch of stand up stuff around town
+continued to be employed
+lost some weight
+went on some fun vacations with good friends

+/-fell for one of the above mentioned women, only for her to get back with her ex, not tell me, and then find out in public the next night as she was working the door for a stand up event I was scheduled to perform at. I found out when the ex showed up and they started making out in public, thanks for the heads up you shitbag.

-didn't really save any money this year
-the last woman I hooked up with, the second time we were having sex I couldn't get a fucking erection. That's the first time that's ever happened to me in 38 years, no clue why. I worry it's a getting older thing that I'll have to deal with. That was two months and some change ago and I haven't been able to shake that shit since
-got estranged from my mother due to dumb family drama shit

I'll be the bearer of bad news: It is a getting older thing. That said, now a days it's "treatable"/pills for erections solve it. That said, it's not as major as you're making it out to be yet. I wouldn't worry about it until you're 45(?). At that point is when the onset for maintaining erections start to happen.

Men can still get it up at older ages (compared to the "shelf life" of women) but it gets harder for the blood flow to happen.

Or so I've read. :doge

Nay and gay with a slight hint of yay. Most of 2015 was spent living in the wreckage of 2014 without any real progress. One or two positive developments but also some tragedy and mostly a lot of nothingness. Outlook as bleak as ever but I also give less of a fuck than ever so that's a small improvement. :yeshrug

+ A lot more people know I'm gay. Maybe in 2016 I'll achieve maximum penetration. :lawd
+ I'm basically fully vested at my current company. If we get bought before next summer I can buy 100% of my initial options. :win
+ Swam my ass off for a majority of the year and got addicted to it. Had a very healthy body image this summer. :aah
+ Way more proud of my progress writing and producing short films this year. Quality is leagues higher. :rejoice
+ Grew super close to my circle of friends. Before this year it felt like there was a wall, but that wall's gone and now we talk about everything. :mynicca

- One of my (non-biological) grandpas died. He was difficult to get along with, but he lived with us while I was growing up after he and my grandma divorced. RIP. :fbm
- Never got blackout drunk until this year, and now it's happened 8-10 times. Need to rein this shit in. :goty
- Last year I made two short films and vowed to be more prolific this year, but I ended up only producing the same number this year. :goty2
- Didn't swim as much as I could have. :shaq2
- Didn't pick up piano even though I looked up teachers as early as February. :beli
- My best drinking buddy is moving to SF at the end of the month. Will probably help with the blackout thing, but still. :brazilcry
- I've been skirting the edge of brokeness despite making decent money because I go overboard with gifts and I don't track expenses well. Definitely changing this. :snoop
- Found out my credit is sub-600 and will take a lot of time and willpower to fix. :holeup

OVERALL: This year was a lot gayer. :supergay

- Spent the first three quarters trying out a new career that I ultimately abandoned
- Missed my goal to be out of debt by the new year due to abandoning that career
- Worked on average 65 hour weeks and let my gym time fall by the wayside
- Moved to another continent away from my wife

+ Got a really cute puppy
+ Tried a lot of new things, did a lot of traveling
+ Paid off some debt
+ Finally got a job in a career field in line with my experience, education, and interests
+ Wife hasn't left me yet

Gay marriage legalized in all 50 states, but unfortunately not yet mandatory

Overall: I thought this year was a bust but putting it down on paper makes it look not so bad. I think 2016 is going to be the first solid improvement year since getting married and graduating college in 2013. Hopefully we can redouble our efforts and avoid hitting peak gay.

Yay:
-Still alive, still employed, still not single, still have a social life
-Lots of awesome and unexpected game announcements, right when I thought the stuff I was into was just about gone for good
-I'm a bedroom DJ but this year I DJed for my biggest crowd yet. ~500+ people... at a retro game convention (game music of course, not what I usually play...).

Nay:
-Didn't really feel like I progressed much this year, in my career... socially... physically... financially... creatively. Just feels like a 'lost' year where I was treading water.
-Work really starting to grind on me. Company got bought out for like 9 billion by a much bigger conglomerate (now we're a Fortune 500 company), though I don't expect things to change for the better or the worse
-Dullest year for electronic music since I started listening to it

Gay:
-Longtime family friend and his boyfriend threw an engagement party... which was actually a surprise wedding.

Eh, it'd be falling in line with the stats about the holidays being a major depressive episode/S.A.D.

+ I was finally able to pursue jobs and goals I wanted to do for several years.
+ I dated the best girl I've met in the past 5 years. She was nigh perfect. Practically everything I wanted in a woman.
+ Joined my first club ever at my university and met some pretty cool people, and had quite a bit of fun so far. Improved my social life.
+ My gums are finally in good condition.
+ Gained an all time best of 163 lbs. this year (starting from 120 lbs. 2 years ago).
+ I don't have to deal with my mom for six whole months as she's gone to visit the family in India.

- The reason I'm able to pursue new jobs and goals is cause I got fired from my old job.
- While the girl I dated was great, it was also very short lived. Also, her boobs could have been bigger.
- Didn't date nearly as many women as I hoped to this year.
- I also dated a lot of women I wish I didn't.
- The cost of my gums being in good condition did not come cheap. I had to undergo the most expensive medical procedure I've ever had up until now. The entire experience was not enjoyable on any level.
- While I gained a lot, I also lost a lot this year (primary cause of the surgery), and I'm currently 150 lbs. and it's been roughly the same since August.

And as far as  :supergay this year? Not much to report. I can't even remember the last time I was hit on by a gay dude. Must mean I'm getting old.  :doge

A big nay that I forgot is that it seems like The Cruncheons is dead.  It's been petering off for the past couple of years but it seems finished now.  All things I suppose come to an end but it was a pretty good podcast.  I still have all the episodes of The Cruncheons and The Borecast, maybe my goal for 2016 is to go through them again.

-lost my job
-lost my sanity for a while due to being ill (thanks for the infection hospital)

-started to grey
-couldn't make any friends this year
-spent more than 2 months in a hospital
-car started to give me problems after 15 years
-identity theft
-teeth problems related to health issues
-living in India/China 2.0

+still in a relationship somehow after 13 years
+lost some weight
+lost some organs that were causing me illness
+traveled a few places
+finding a new respect for life
+enjoying not being on the internet as much

Super gay:

Medical bills

Pretty yay. Had sex, baby boy on the way, baby girl is crazy and awesome and 3.5 already, got a big promotion to boss lady, had money in savings without having to drain it due to catastrophic reasons for once, did a lot of work on the house and on track to do more next spring.

Nays are just exhausted/health issues, seems the months just fly by while we're on the eat-work-netflixandchill-sleep routine, commutes are a bitch, random irritations due to assholes we can't quite get rid of. Nothing major though, which is a first in years.

Gays: Shaka's cupcakes and Jesus shirt was born.

-I'm 10 lbs overweight.
-I feel tired most of the time.
-I need to get a new and hopefully better job because of "reasons".
-I have friends but we're not really "besties". Which is fine but I hate feeling like I'm intruding on their lives when I ask them if they want to hang out.
-Single AF.

Gay:
~Danced with one of my guy friends at a party.  :doge

End of next year I'll probably get/build a desktop PC but the laptop suits my work & recreational needs at this moment.

The Yays/Gays:
  • Graduated with high honors after a decade of academic setbacks.
  • Accepted a decent job offer before graduation day.
  • Everyone, and I mean everyone, home got to see me graduate live thanks to the interwebs.
  • My entire family visited me at various points of the year.
  • Got rid of some major dead weight.
  • Doing well on my job, started to find my niche and getting excited about it.
  • Moved to a bigger apartment, near my friends, with a kickass roommate.
  • Made some major progress towards achieving permanent residency
  • Unrelated: passing of gay marriage
  • Started seriously researching grad school and scholarship opportunities.
  • Spent less time playing games and slacking on online. Social media notwithstanding.

The Nays:
It was just a crazy year overall, full of major changes. Good and bad. Very overwhelming at times. And went by so fast that some weeks/months went by like a blur.

I also did not invest my time wisely in people. I lost contact with some good friends due to the craze, while others got too much than they deserve.

I'm glad I got to write down the top part of this post. It made me feel like I accomplished more than I gave myself credit for. Overall I'm very grateful for the yays, the humbling nays, and definitely the gays.

Yay
+ Graduated college with honors
+ Walked directly into a job after busting my ass at internships
+ Moved in with my girlfriend of close to a decade; our relationship has changed but we're tighter than ever
+ Said girlfriend got a job that pays double what I'm making while putting in less time  :aah

Nay
- Said girlfriend's job is a weekend position, so we see each other less
- Grandfather kicked the bucket, putting all of my grandparents in the ground
- My performance review this year wasn't stellar

Gay
~ Had a coworker/buddy go through a divorce with his husband.  My man kept the house though  :rejoice

All things considered, a pretty yay year.
