I'm positive that at least one Mario game had a Bowser forces Peach to marry him plot, maybe more than one. I want to say one of the Paper Marios. And Sunshine had him kidnapping her so she could be Bowser Jr.'s mom. The implication through the whole series is that he's stealing her and more or less forcing her to marry him. The kind of environment that gave rise to Eminem, South Park, "Shock jocks" and the like just doesn't really mesh with our current political climate. It's hard to examine it using a present-day lens when its roots are still grounded in an "offend everybody" apolitical late 90's edginess. The notion of offending people deliberately has taken on a more partisan divide the last five years or so, but to my knowledge notions of political correctness, respect for others (specifically those unlike yourself), and "going high when they go low" was not a stark blue/red divide in the first decade of the show's existence.

Just like how Red face is white people dressing themselves up as Indigenous people. In the case of Uncharted, they dressed a white woman up to do all the mocap for a digital black woman. Getting a white woman to portray (poorly) a black South African woman is a bad look - getting her to be dressed in the digital black skin, as happens, is digital blackface. It's not juvenile just because you disagree. This is my field, bro. I give talks on this at GDC, and write articles for spots like Kotaku. I am known for my expertise in this field.And honestly, there is ZERO reason to get white people to play non-white people because of how opportunity, or lack thereof, manifests itself. If we ever get to a point where PARITY happens in OPPORTUNITY, then it will all be fine.
