Hey guys, sorry if I missed lengthy discussions post-election. But how do we mobilize all of us to make change? I know I'm not the most vocal participant here. But surely we can transform this place from poli sci version of gamer-gaf to an actual forum for action. Memes and articles and general "what the fuck are they doing?!?!" Is fun. Problem is the situation is so partisan in this country and San Fransisco is full of pretentious hipsters that I'd rather have crazy rightwingers spreading fake conspiracy theories on facebook than have facebook interfere in any way with it. Due to the election I've changed how I consume media. For a period of a long time, I'd just set up my favorite websites to notify when they post something on fb. Now I realize how lazy this was. I am now visiting and reading more news sites than I can count and am no longer relying on fb for news even through notifications.

I'm also increasing the range of news sites I'm visiting and reading. Not that I did this, but it makes no sense to block out an entire fucking news site because they posted a billion negative articles on Bernie Sanders in the span of a day. I need to know different views on different topics. I DID however used to scrutinize sites like politico ad have since added them to my daily read list outside of my progressive news sources like Jacobin, Mother Jones, or whatever. I've also started reading The Hill, and I'm trying to find legitimate news sources from "the other side" so I can know what they think about issues so I can be more aware of what they think and why they think but can't find anything.

One thing is for sure, this election has changed how I use media.

I can't really PM a specific mod because I don't know who did that and I don't care specifically who it was anyway, but if lednerg was banned for his PoliGAF posts now, either Vahagn probably should have been banned too or lednerg shouldn't have been banned. Both went off the rails, but I don't see much of a gap between

It doesn't really help the idea that PoliGAF is an echo chamber and the modding team at least partially contributes to this, something which has contributed to numerous people in OT pointing out that they don't participate in PoliGAF as a result, when from two people who both went over the line to roughly the same extent only one gets banned, and that happened to be the person with the view outside the PoliGAF norm.

I think this post I am making is probably bannable? but I don't really see any other way to say this and I'm trying to do it to be constructive, so I'm hoping that whichever moderator this is applicable reads it solely in that light.
