at the idea of sitting on your ass and not watching the inauguration being considered a legitimate form of protest. This is like people checking in to Standing Rock on Facebook. You're not helping anyone or contributing to anything other than your own sense of self worth. At least the people on Facebook got to show their friends how woke they were.
Even better, I'm assuming they mean the swearing-in and then the speech following it. This takes like 20 minutes. Half an hour. In the middle of a weekday.
So you're protesting by not watching a 20 minute event live on a weekday. Because I can't believe anyone is talking about all of the parade and performances of which Trump is only nominally involved and which nobody would consider to be worth watching anyway. The President-elect's not even visible for most of the parade except for the dumb part where they walk.
And the swearing-in is going to be shown endlessly because remember we're all supposed to be supporting and consuming "real news" constantly now unlike before when we weren't protesting it but were ignoring it.
I don't understand any of this. I never thought we'd hit peak slacktivism this fast. Figured it had at least another good five years in it.
Also, isn't protesting him a form of normalizing Trump, I thought we weren't supposed to be normalizing him, but this is treating him like all the other Presidents. THIS IS NOT NORMAL. I CAN'T HOW...WHAT
