You know guys, I'm starting to think this whole SJW thing on GAF and other parts of the internet might actually not be about social justice. Sure Disney is putting out ads with gay parents taking their kids, but one of them is too feminine. Yeah the actor portraying the guy from Hong Kong is actually from Hong Kong, but he's from the wrong area of Hong Kong. Yes, it was an action movie from 20 years ago, but can you believe that Arnold Schwarzenegger beat up a minority in it? Why didn't everyone see this was obviously a call for white power? Not only is that anime character a woman, she also has boobs! Talk about male fantasy! It's almost like it's not actually about social justice, but more about stroking one's ego and one-up manship, like a "I'm more hardcore than you', and that's why they're joyless and never happy about anything. I mean, it just sorta "seems" that way. I dunno.

It's a rapidly escalating game of insularity. Ground is staked out, camps are created, and anything in between is a problem.
TBH I'm not really bothered by it as much as I used to be because in reality we're talking about a minority of people. But I'm amazed that even the most asinine hot takes and complaints get coverage. For instance people upset the JL trailer because Wonder Woman shaves her armpits. I'd imagine there's only like 100 people who give a shit about that yet that didn't stop some asshole from writing an article about it, and then it appearing on my twitter timeline.
I think why it bothers me is that having grown up in a ridiculously religious area I saw mountains of this kind of "one up manship" everywhere and largely people were born into it and felt it was a game they had to play.
"I don't watch R rated movies"
"Well I don't watch PG-13 movies"
"Well I only watch G rated movies"
"Not only do I not drink alcohol I wont ever drink virgin versions of alcoholic drinks because it's the 'appearance of evil' "
"Well I don't even drink caffeinated soda!"
"Well I don't even drink ANY soda!"
Sadly, these are actual conversations that people had. And the thing is, a lot of them played this "game" because they were born into it and didn't feel they really had a choice, and it lead to so much shame/guilt "oh man, I'm such a bad person for looking at those sexy vids that guy over there doesn't even watch PG rated movies!". And what I see here is people willingly signing themselves up to play this toxic game and I just don't get it at all.
