Finished the Crash Triology:

- Crash Bandicoot 1 is awful because of the issues mentioned earlier in the thread.  There were several locations to rack up a bunch of lives quickly so it was not as painful as it could be.

- Crash Bandicoot 2 still had some control issues but the game was much better overall.  Probably the best of the three in terms of level design and variety.

- Crash Bandicoot Warped is the first Crash game designed for analog stick controls so it controlled a lot easier.  However more gimmicks were added to the game (like racing and the jetski sections).

I got Sonic Mania and Mega Man X on their way.  I'll probably play Sonic next.

I still have this shrink-wrapped and I think I may just return it.  Just doesn't come across as something I think I'd be into.

Been playing a lot of Hollow Knight and loving it. Anyway, was this game supposed to be difficult? Because I don’t see it. Isn’t a detriment at all but I feel like people are whacked if they think this game is tough.

I think it's a decent challenge in spots but none of the enemies or bosses caused much grief. I got burned out on traversing the map a million times. I was lost as to where to go for about 1-2 hours of in-game time. I circled the map 5 times after being lost for about 30 mins. I finally figured out where to go and made some decent progress. I eventually got fed up with all the backtracking and decided the game is not for me. The Switch timer says I have 15 hours, so I presume it's between that and 20.

Enter the Gungeon has been pretty good so far. I die way too much and still struggle getting past the 2nd floor. It makes me want Rogue Legacy on Switch, or at least a sequel.

https://nintendoeverything.com/picross-s2-coming-to-switch-out-next-week/ <- Japan only for now. I really hope they don't just reuse the same puzzles from regular Picross for Mega Picross. That was such a bummer, especially with how polished the 3DS games are.

The good news: If it's not salvageable, you can just buy a new set of joycons.  You'd have to send it off for repairs or just be fucked with any other handheld if you can't DIY.

I find a lot of the bosses in Hollow Knight tough. I set it aside from the watcher knights. The laser bug (stronger version) also was very frustrating for me.

I've been having an occasional issue where the modded d-pad/colored button joycons I got stop being recognized as being in handheld mode.  When it happens I have to remove and re-attach/resync both of them more than once.  Mildly annoying.  Hori controller should be next week though.

Physical copies of Rockman X Collections 1 and 2 arrived today- you can only get Rockman X Collection 2 in cart form if you order it by itself...the 1&2 collection pack that costs more offers it as digital only.  :lol

EDIT: For anyone interested in importing, I can confirm that the games run in full English- you just need to press Y to toggle from Rockman X to Megaman X on the main menus.

The Japanese-only physical cart release of Okami coming out in a few weeks is supposed to run in full English as well.

Does the 8bitdo controller actually connect easily? I had heard there were some issues with it dropping or something and losing compatibility with certain firmware updates.

Not sure if it’s more ironed out now.

Looks pretty easy.

To pair your 8Bitdo controller to your Nintendo Switch, Press and hold Start + Y on the controller for one second until the LED light blinks four times. Then, open the Switch's Bluetooth settings and pair your controller. If it worked, the LED light on the 8Bitdo controller will be solid blue.

I'm using this one but apparently they all work. And yes, easy to pair up and use. Only thing is it doesn't have home and share buttons, but meh.

Any of the 8bitdos will work.  If you have an older one, you just need to update the firmware.  I have the NES30 and SFC30 (the one Snorenado posted) models, but there's a newer model that looks even better:

Quote
(Image removed from quote.)

It has two sets of shoulder buttons on top.  No idea if this is the case, but I wonder if those two smaller buttons on the face work as home and photo buttons when paired with the Switch?

They also have an arcade stick.

Also to note, the Hori left-joycon with real d-pad is out in Japan now, but it will only work with the console in handheld mode.

I think I've only played it on handheld like two or three times since I got it. Two of those times was on a plane. Was never into handheld gaming and never had a handheld device before the switch (excluding cell phones, which I use sometimes to play dumb casual games and I had a period where I was playing PUBG mobile every day).

Joy cons are being sent back to Nintendo from the shop I bought my Switch at. They say it will take around 10 days  :'(

The guy first wanted to only send back the one thats drifting, but might as well send back both and who knows Ill get a new pair.

Happy it was still under the year warranty.

Played some Dragonball beta.

Slept on this when it launched on Xbox One/PS4 but this is actually a great fighting game, not just a great Dbz game.
I can certainly see myself picking this up but maybe not on the Switch.

It looks great from what I can tell but online over WiFi is not very stable. Besides, I'll probably play it more in single player anyway and I'm more likely to find it cheaper for Xbox soon.
Still it's quite something to see this game running on such a small screen and system as well as it does on a big console.

DB FighterZ is definitely a great port.  Hard to gauge online because most people are probably not playing it docked with a wired connection.  Arc did great with BB Cross-Tag though so I assume the final product will be no different.

-Anyway-

Impressive that it appears to be running at 1080P when docked (with dynamic resolution...which can get pretty low..like way sub HD).  You can see the lack of AA and lower quality effects, but it still looks awesome.  Makes me want to see Tekken 7 and Soul Calibur 6 on Switch.  :)
