Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition‘s additional scenario “Future Connected” will feature a new battle system, according to the packaging for the game’s download card now available at retailers in Japan.

Haha dude is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ incarnate.

Without going into too much detail... there is not a lot of love between MikeZ and 505 at this point.

i played it on gamepass and found it just to be a pretty boring VP clone but maybe i'm missing something

It's a Valkyrie Profile clone if you turn all the RPG stuff in that game off and then make the game require you to know how to play fighting games at a competent level to play it. I suck at fighting games so I ended up not getting very far into the game unfortunately. I wanted to like it and I wanted to support it, but I accept that it is a game for a very limited audience that I am not a part of.

Curious how the co-op mode is, but I think it's local 2P only so that's not gonna be happening any time soon.

Fallen Legion is a better VP clone than this, play that instead

I don't think they made the wrong decision if that was their goals. It sucks for me as an adult gamer, especially after the Wii U ditched goddamn friend codes (we were free!! FREE!!!!!), but I've come to view the concessions Nintendo makes for younger audiences as necessary to their marketability and long-term survival.

And the Switch version of friend codes has only been a minor, infrequent pain.

Reading more into it and getting a bit more context, this was done in ~summer 2006 before the Wii launched and they were exploring systems to use for it. This presentation seems to be making the case for "porting" the DS WFC model, which is what they ended up doing.

It also seems like they were way more focused on getting casual gamers to start playing online for the first time, rather than "protecting the children" as I thought.

Nintendo's online is just a bit better then PSP.

I was playing my Vita for whatever reason yesterday and was remained of how much of a sleek handheld it is and that it has a lot of better functionality over the Switch.

I mean I guess it dosen't matter in the end. I certainly think the Switch has a much better library then the Vita.

:confused

Gamecube - Nintendo going full hardcore with tech, best graphics, pushing niche IPs like Metroid, F-Zero, moneyhatting crazy 3rd party exclusives like Resident Evil, tons of new IPs and shakeups of classic franchises.
WiiU - let's rehash a small amount of Wii games with a redundant gimmick that no one understands on fisherprice hardware, can't even get bare basics like an exclusive Zelda.

Anyway, my comment was more about how the GCN and WiiU were both failures. I don't like Nintendo, so my opinion is already bias, but I sure don't remember anyone giving a shit about the GCN back in the day, just like I don't remember anyone caring about the WIIU. I've never even known anyone in real life who owns these systems beyond me.

Sorry, I think I'll take Xenoblade X and Bayonetta 2 over the majority of the GCN exclusives.

Hey, there was a dude on Facebook once who said that the Wii was a miserable sales failure because he worked as a tech for an ISP and "always saw them in people's closets."  So there you have it- worst-selling console of its generation confirmed.

Not really, pretty much everyone had a PS2, maybe an Xbox. Also in my experience people have one console. My friend group and I were only 11-15 during this era so no one had buying power.

I actually stole my moms debit card because on Amazon someone was selling a used but in great condition Cube for $50. Great deal I thought and I really wanted to play RE4 which was coming out soon.  RE4 was like the last thing I remember buying from Circuit City.

Basing console sales and usage on what kids in your neighborhood had.  Makes sense- it's a fact, guys.

No, the Cube has 24 million worldwide sales. Thats a fact. That’s not good.

Actually 21 million. The 1st Xbox did better. What I’m saying Is my experience lines up with the reality that it wasn’t a super successful console.

I was like no, RE4 was where it was at.

Smash was big, as was Mario Kart.

Our household dropped consoles after the NES because my brother was a PC guy, I got my first job at 13 so I could afford a GBA early 2002. At 13 you were allowed to deliver door to door advertisements.
Delivering about 200 of these packages in my own neighborhood I would make roughly 10 - 15 Euro a week depending on the weight of the ad package. Which was equal to one new video game a month if my parents allowed it and I hadn't spend the money elsewhere.

Then my bro bought a GameCube when Double Dash came out but he didn't like it much and switched to PS2, so I could buy his GameCube from him after like 3 months with my birthday money.
That meant I could finally start training at home to beat my friends at Smash Bros. and Soul Calibur II and the likes. One of my friends was 2 years older than me and had collected all the Nintendo games and consoles you could imagine.
We would go there at least once a week to play Smash Bros. and other games. Being a late adapter of the GameCube also meant that you had plenty of Players Choice titles to pick from.

2004 and 2005 were probably the peak of the GameCube era. At that point we had dozens of great and fun multiplayer games even stuff like Donkey Konga and Wario Ware, while we waited for the new Zelda that had blown everyone's mind.
Playing Resident Evil 4 at 16 felt like I was getting a sneak peek into the future of video games and how amazing it was going to be. We had another dude in our group who would drop by once every month when he didn't need to go to his youth church group to bring his Xbox with HALO and Forza. Even though HALO was fun I was already spoiled by playing Half Life and all its mods with my brother. Some of which he developed maps for. I still recall how happy he was when he reversed engineered the texture work of Max Payne 2 to use in The Specialists Mod basically taking the Source mod-scene to a higher level.
