It's a little disappointing as I would have expected it to be an improvement over thier last game. It's not like it will be unplayable or anything, it's just XB2 looked so muddy in handheld mode. I don't know, I don't expect amazing image quality and visuals when I play the Switch on my tv. As long as the game looks good enough, I'll be fine. I probably should expect more, but that's the way it's been on the Wii, the WiiU, and now the Switch. So it's no surprise.

Yeah, XBC2 has to be in the top 5 worst JRPGs for voice line call outs. I feel like I'm kinda okay at tuning it out by now, but that game was just ugh.

TL;DR:

Runs at 720P max. Some of the detail (art) looks better on the original Wii version. Art style changes are going to look better to some and worse to others There's also some things that had detail reduced, like moving trees. Shits all over the 3DS version visually. Game still looks great overall and generally stays at 30 FPS with dynamic resolution to keep it stable. New UI is much better. Can toggle between redone music and original music.

Says it's a significant improvement over the original version in most areas. Notes that he didn't play through it, so we get nothing about the new content.

I got Saint's Row IV Re-Elected on sale and played it for a couple of hours last night. It's a better port than SR3 was (although SR3 now runs just fine after several patches have been released) and looks/runs better. I saw some reported issues with the DLC not showing up in-game, but this was supposedly fixed in a patch last month. I'm confused by this, since it doesn't come with any DLC vouchers and everything is already supposed to be on the cart/download. The only thing missing here is Gat Outta Hell, which technically is a standalone game anyway.

Got Xenoblade downloaded and playable (J-version), but I bet as soon as I even try to do anything, it will magically get super busy at work. :'(

Also got Shantae and the Seven Sirens. New metroidvania time!

You can also choose between English and Japanese voices and new/original music in the options.

Am playing it docked- maybe it's just me, but it seems like the real-time cut scenes are running at 1080P? Looks noticeably cleaner than when you're playing. Gameplay is clearly 720P, but is a smooth 30 and it doesn't look too bad. You can really tell this was a Wii port-up, but it looks good enough considering.

The character design style almost looks they went from Vagrant Story to Kingdom Hearts. I didn't play the original so it doesn't bother me, but it may turn off some people.

Looks all those 2K ports are- XCOM 2, Borderlands 1, Handsome Collection, and Bioshock 1-3.

XCOM is $50 and takes up 24 GB.

At least you can get Borderlands 1 by itself and it takes up a more doable 13 GB of space, but it's $30. And then no way to buy BL2 or the pre-sequel by themselves.

Would be interested if they had physical releases, but IIRC they're just going to be DLC vouchers in game cases (?).

They can release Cyberpunk 2077: Cinematic Edition.

Which is just a $60 dollar cartridge with a 10 minute trailer at 480p and Nintendies will use it for their list wars.
I feel like some of these developers know exactly what they're doing with these shit unplayable ports.

Seems to be a game that just doesn't do well on lower-end hardware. There's issues running it on the much more powerful GPD Win Max (although it certainly looks and runs a hell of a lot better than the Switch port).

I bought Link's Awakening. The graphic style is really appealing to me and I thought it would be ok as babies first Zelda.

It does look nice and seems to be a breezy game. I just wish it didn't have the obvious slowdown.
