Would be nice if Sega did more than just the usual Genesis shit.  Their PS2 ages stuff would be great, even if they just did a straight port.
This.  It drives me nuts that the SA PS was never ported to anything else.  Wish they'd redo all the PS's that way.

Wild Guns Reloaded came out yesterday.

It's $29.99 on the eShop.
 :nope

Checked to see if there was a physical release.  Found zero information on it, but Gamestop and Wal-Mart stock it for the same price.  Nothing on Amazon (Edit: Natsume's storefront had it but it's sold out.  Doesn't come in searches.  Weird.) and eBay had people selling it for $50+ (lol).  Picked it up last night and got the only copy the GS had, so that meant a gutted copy with nasty sticker smudge residue.
 :stahp

Then I checked the J-eShop today and they have the game listed for 1800 yen, which is almost half the price.
 :rage

Usually it's the opposite.

You're not missing much - they butchered the art style in the second one, and the music in the first one sounds horrible (like christmas-bells influenced midi versions of the SMS tunes). The best is the regular Sega Ages PS collection, which has options to increase walking speed and make leveling up/meseta grinding much faster.

Picked up Xenoblade Chronicles 2 again after I dropped it after the introduction when it released.

I must say, the patches have made the game run better and everything seems to make more sense UI wise.
Will probably try to finish it now, it's a very pretty and fun game overall as JRPG's go.

This game is great because one of the playable characters is a long-haired weiner dog that controls a robot

In for a PRO.  :dizzy

No but srsly. I'm hoping this means I get to rip my games to SD card and maybe even use the internal Bluetooth for Audio out. No need for ROMs, I'm not a filthy pauper ...yet.

The exploit explanation on github (IIRC?) was pretty in depth and interesting. One really needs to dive deep into this shit to ferret out such a bug. Cool stuff.

I doubt we will see a refresh until 2019 at the earliest.

Though maybe some minor changes like more internal memory or something?

Xenoblade 2 gets really good after the slow start though. The music is amazing too.

You just have to suffer through Poppi and Masterpon and the fact that everyone (including all human enemies) have 3 lines of battle dialogue repeated infinitely.

It's a much better game than Xenoblade Chronicles X. Which felt like a ridiculously bloated tech demo.

That game has nothing to do with Xenoblade though. The question is whether it's as boring as Bravely Default.

It does seem like quite the price hike considering that it's $20 on Wii U.  $40 Funky Kong tax?

Did you guys see that the game disappeared from the Wii U eShop a few days ago?  People were losing their shit with crazy conspiracies that Nintendo was trying to "fuck fans over" and "force" them into buying the Switch version.  You know...because so many people own Wii Us and were going to suddenly buy it digitally years after release or couldn't just buy a physical copy.

And then it popped back up on the eShop like a day later.

Just as a gameplay update, I've been spending most of April playing the DLC for Fire Emblem Warriors.  The DLC has a lot of scenarios with significantly ramped up difficulty.  In those stages, it is highly recommended to be able to wield S-level weapons.  Downside with that is that in many instances, the ability to use S-ranked weapons requires farming a bunch to collect useless shit.  My main character Rowan is at level 120.  At this point, it seems like it's either start farming to get S-level weapons or stop playing.  I'm probably going towards the latter.  Game clock shows me in at around 135 hours.  Still a great game but may not be worth it at the level it takes to 100% complete it.

Messed around with the Switch port of South Park.  It's been about a decade since I last watched South Park but I liked Stick of Truth.  Just barely got into it.

Picked up Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze today.  Yes, I paid the $40 idiot Funky Kong tax.  I played the Wii U version and recall not being all that impressed with it but I plan on digging deeper into it the next few days.

DKCTF was great on Wii U. Really an underappreciated gem.
I might get the new Shantae game, not sure if I'll like it.

I'm still playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 but I'm always kinda slow playing RPG's.

Also, for those still on the fence for Switch Rocket League. With the latest patch it actually looks like Rocket League and not Rocket League 64.

For anyone that's played Tropical Freeze, I have a question. Is the game doing the vast majority of nostalgia callbacks to the original DKC, like Returns did, and largely pretending that DKC2 didn't exist? That's the impression I am getting. Because DKC2 is a superior game in every way to the original, including the music. I get it, DKC was the most popular game in the series, but it would be a shame to ignore DKC2's wonderful legacy.

Giving online modes to old games is cool, but I can't really think of anything that would be worth it on NES. Especially with only Nintendo titles so far. Please stop trying to make Balloon Fight a classic, it's boring.

Well, what is the "Virtual Console" anyway?  It's nothing but a name for old games on the previous eShops.  And there's old games going up on the current eShop now.  So maybe all that shit is going to get released anyway.

Does anybody really think Nintendo isn’t going to find a way to mine their library for more money?

I have zero doubt that we will see SNES games showing up one way or another. Actually I’d prefer that it’s under a subscription service, frankly, because I think VC prices sort of sucked.

Why would they bother when they can release a piece of plastic with 20 ROMs on it for 100 bucks and people will borderline riot to get their hands on one.
