Am I the only one here worried about the actual real world threats of going to war with iran and destroying the planet with climate change rather than the gay-rights boogeyman?
No one is going to make sodomy illegal and start sodomy police squads.
I'm worried about the fact they're thinking of a Muslim registry.
I'm worried they have a white nationalist as second most powerful man in the WH and will have the POTUS' ear and influence policy.
I'm worried that the Vice President is a historical anti-LGBT demagogue who believes in conversion therapy and has been noted in telling corporations to not hire "the gays". The fact that I am a trans woman during a time when republicans - the same party who thinks HB2 was a good thing - has controls of all aspects of government frightens me and they have actual power to effect me and my communities lives. Adding to this they are trying to make it harder to obtain birth control and healthcare for women. Does this include hormones for trans individuals? A question to certainly ask, because without hormones many will be driven to suicide.
I'm worried that BLM will be labeled a terrorist organization, which I occasionally participate with.
I'm worried that Trump values "loyalty" above all else at the expense of valued and respected republican leadership that didn't support his candidacy. He has a group of loyalists and many aren't willing to play ball with establishment republicans which they will use to force loyalty and dominance on to the rest of the party. This is the first step of fascism: forcing "enemies" to bend the knee or face consequences. Once he has the party under his control because they are too cowardly to fight him in fear of losing their "base" they will have even more power - especially in a republican majority government - to inflict terrible policy.
I'm worried about my Latino friends and deportation, although I was strongly anti-deportation for non-criminals and families during the Obama admin, so that issue is big for me.
I'm worried about the fact that if democrats concede one more state that the Republican Party will have the power to alter the constitution uncontested.
I'm worried about the Paris Agreement and Trump's climate change denying administration which could push carbon emissions to a no point of return of its not already there in the pursuit of money from lobbyists.
I'm worried about foreign policy especially where Russia is concerned. I'm worried about Mexico. I love Mexican's am friends with many. I'm worried about Syria and hope things go well with Asaad but Trump's relationship with Putin puts this under scrutiny. I'm worried about China's response to America. I'm hoping the unprecedented risk of anti-Semitism and anti-Muslim rhetoric will help create bonds and a reach across the aisle for the two religions but it's wishful thinking. I'm worried about the rise of European fascism in response to this election. I'm worried about our relationship with Germany.
I'm worried about someone like Trump, as disorganized and ignorant he is of the duties of the office he holds, having access to nuclear codes.
I'm terrified and not one issue bothers me. It all scares me. All Noam Chomsky said in truthdig, the republican party is currently the most dangerous organization in world history. Concentrating on one issue does not due this entire thing justice.
