Anyways, that poll is rather depressing and is certainly compounding my already healthy cynicism toward the human race when it comes to maintaining a healthy Democracy.

does anyone else see some conflicting priorities between "I will prosecute more crimes" and "I will stop prosecuting as many crimes"?

Yeah, but not necessarily incoherent. I think you can be really skeptical of US prison culture while thinking certain types of crime need to be treated more seriously by prosecutors. It's something you'll see people on the left trying to hash out about domestic abuse, for instance.

The ones he picked out (elder abuse, hate crimes, corruption) seem to be aimed either at certain constituencies or recent headlines in Orange County.

Speaking of this, the judge in the Brock Turner case got recalled.

Such as who killed JFK, the truth behind 9/11 and perhaps even Aliens. But Trump can't be arsed to read or learn anything so all the state secrets are safe.

Brock Turner decision was horrible.  Raping an unconscious body behind a dumpster is heinous, and as someone who's done a million horrible things drunk, alcohol is not an excuse at all. Everything you do remains a conscious choice.

The worry is that a recall is a pretty blunt instrument, so even if the intended message is about how well-off defendants from "good families" get a de facto separate system, or how certain types of sexual assault are unfairly minimized, judges may see this and decide the best CYA strategy is more punitive sentencing all around.

No, it was mostly because of how he reacted during the first briefings on the important stuff that made the intelligence community worried.

And after he spilled something to the Russians the scare came up again.

Didn't Trump actually compromise a friendly foreign ally by alluding to the source of some intelligence pertaining to the Middle East while meeting the Russian Ambassador & Foreign Minister early in his presidency ? And conducted an impromptu critical international summit with the Chinese Premier (Or Japanese PM) in full view of his Mar a Lago patrons ?

Plus the rumors he isn't following protocol to keep his smartphone up to date security wise and the fact he said out loud on national television that he fired Comey because of the investigation into possible Russian ties, sabotaging his since then denial.

Not spilling the beans on Majestic 12 or JFK (not that there's, in all likelihood, much to disclose here) to whatever school class is visiting the White House that day is a pretty low bar. He's already proven he's not exactly disciplined in that regard. Neither is his entourage.

The only time I came across anyone talking about Trump in that context were right wing nuts that feed off child trafficking pizza shops and Seth Rich conspiracies and thought glorious Trump was going to dump all the deep secrets they knew had to be true.... But those aren’t serious people, let alone experts.

The concern about being compromised and incompetent to the point of dumping secrets that don’t come from fairy land, now that was a real fear...one that as Vom pointed out, has been realized.

The last time this happened was 1932 and recall is no more a blunt instrument than "Sorry, you have to accept this thing you don't like for N years."

Giuliani went on record saying Kim Jong Un "begged on his knees" for the Singapore summit to happen. Which doesn't sound the most considerate thing to say less than a week before supposedly entering some form of negotiation with a notoriously difficult state to talk with.

I guess Ronan Farrow must prefer that though ?

Don't base what a Democrat is on WV politics. Our governor ran as a Democrat and flipped to a Trump supporting Republican. Manchin is a DINO for sure.

I think Manchin is what a Dem should (or has to) be for WV. He’s nominally against a lot of Liberal priorities but doesn’t go out of his way to demonize or antagonize over them.

I wonder if he is betting that trump ain’t gonna be around in 2020 so he doesn’t have to worry about this... or at least it isn’t an election year for him, so what does it matter.

I sincerely hope there is a bunch of group pictures from the Borth Korean summit.

I want to see a pic of Trump, Kim, Hannity, and Gorka in front of Gorkas mustang. Maybe all carrying assault rifles.

Why can’t you watch porn in the whitehouse? I’m genuinely confused by that.

Can’t he just watch porn and pardon himself?
