Literally everyone pretending to be offended by this also bends over backwards on a weekly basis to pretend whatever bullshit Trump was fine.

Is true that English is her third language? That would explain a lot to me...

Trump's whole campaign was about fear-mongering and resentment towards foreigners. Stealing Iraqi oil is right in line with banning all Muslims from entering the country (which is only a "simple solution to a complex problem" if you're a bigot).

Kirblar's working overtime in that Trump tweet thread about Ilhan Omar. His insistence on defending Dem leadership no matter what is a sight to behold.

Ken Cuccinelli! Haven't heard his name in a minute.

When he was the Virginia attorney general he tried to get a criminal case going against a climate researcher based on no evidence. Then he ran for governor, after a career of being a far-right hack, and all his campaign ads were about how he was a pragmatic problem-solver. Still lost to Terry McAuliffe.

So for as bad as Trump has been about Illhan Omar already, ya'all need to brace yourselves for his scheduled appearence in her congressional district on Monday.

I don't know what he'll say, but it'll likely be horrible.

Literally everyone pretending to be offended by this also bends over backwards on a weekly basis to pretend whatever bullshit Trump was fine.

Is true that English is her third language? That would explain a lot to me...
It's possible but it would be a bit of a misnomer as it implies she's not fluent in the language or that she didn't grow up dual-language. From what I understand that while she was raised in a Somali family that spoke primarily Somali and related (they did live in Somalia after all), her parents both spoke English to some level and she was certainly fluent enough in English by the time she was a teenager that the immigration services did not even note any language issues for the family to come over. Even when accepting refugees they usually note where this could be a hindrance to their resettlement. But she spoke English just fine apparently.

It's also worth noting that at a young age she served as a translator for her grandfather who didn't know English. Children who serve as family translators like that often score very highly even if the language is not a predominant one and show good potential in all languages. I'd have to read more about her background obviously but I'm not, from this cursory glance, seeing anything that indicates she should be having any English issues. (Personally, I certainly don't hear any listening to her.)

Of course, as already noted, this instance isn't a language barrier issue, nor were her earlier ones, this is a somebody did something to chop out the context issue.

Thursday night marked the kickoff, in New York City, of their national speaking tour. Billed as “a one-of-a-kind conversation with two individuals who have helped shape our world … [and who offer] remarkable insight into where we go from here,” the event simply underscored why Hillary lost: Over-promise, under-deliver, avoid accountability, and expect the masses to nonetheless be satisfied.

My ticket, a third-row seat in the balcony, cost $210. This bought me 90 minutes of longtime Clinton lackey Paul Begala launching such softballs as:

Is the two-state solution dead?
What is happening to American politics?
How did it feel to watch the bin Laden raid?
Why are the Dems losing rural voters?
How did you raise such an amazing daughter?

...

Not quite halfway through the event, a man in the front row stood up and interrupted.

“Bill, this is boring!” he yelled. As he tried asking his question — “Why don’t you talk about — ” Hillary immediately began talking over him, saying that the “important political conversations” they were trying to have could be difficult, especially when interrupted by such “agent provocateurs.”

“Jeffrey Epstein!” shouted the man.

Oh, the irony.

The heckler was, of course, swiftly hauled away, and the conversation returned to Bill talking about the good old days when he was president, telling such surely apocryphal tales as bringing together two veterans, each missing one leg, and a “formidable” overweight black lesbian activist — the veterans later telling Bill, with tears in their eyes, that they had more in common with this woman than they ever would have thought.

Dear Democrats,

I’m a Republican and I’m here to help.

I want to help because we live in the same country and while our politics may diverge, our future is inextricably bound together.

And like a frantic Marty McFly trying to help Doc Brown, I need to warn you about that future.

I mean, sure, I don’t know the future. But your Democratic present is looking an awful lot like our Republican past. I’m worried there’s something taking shape in front of you that you can’t quite see. Or maybe you do see it, and aren’t as alarmed by it as I am.

Either way, it’s my firm belief that if you don’t do something to change course, America is going to be forced to choose between Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump in 2020.

And that’s no kind of choice at all.
Quote
And this, my friends, is the crux of my warning:

DO NOT IGNORE BERNIE SANDERS.

HE IS GOING TO WIN THE NOMINATION.

AND HE IS NOT GOING TO BEAT DONALD TRUMP.

I know what you’re thinking. It’s early. Someone in the field will break out. Joe Biden is leading Sanders in every poll by 10 points and he’s eventually going to get in and take care of everything.

Maybe. But maybe not. Heed the lesson of Trump: Bernie Sanders voters are committed, devoted, and pissed, just like Trump’s were (and still are). And they aren’t going anywhere.

It gets worse: Bernie is already more palatable to Democratic voters than Trump was at this stage. Look at the ranked-choice polling and you see that for people whose first choice is Biden, Beto, Warren, and even Klobuchar, their second choice is . . . Bernie.

Bernie doesn’t do so well with Harris and Booker supporters. And maybe, in the end, African-American voters could save the Democratic party. But right now, Bernie has a rock-solid base and is poised to consolidate.
Quote
They need to get out early and throw their support behind a responsible candidate who can beat Bernie in a primary and Trump in a general.

And they need to stop trying to hug Bernie in the hopes of winning over his base. No matter how progressive you are, you’re never going to with a bidding war with Bernie Sanders on the subject of socialism.

Most Americans don’t want to choose between a socialist party and a nativist party. But if Bernie isn’t stopped early and no Republican challenges Trump for the nomination, that’s the binary choice we’ll be facing.

MSNBC is hilarious with how they change what Dem they're pulling for every day. Literally. Usually coincided with who they have appearing on one of their prime time shows, but they will spend all day boosting a different candidate, and they'll do this 5 days a week.

Maybe you're just catching different editorial shows?

Nah, I mean all the shows for an entire day will boost whatever person they happen to pick that day. From Morning Joe through the actual news programs during the day all the way to prime time. Today it's a Bernie day. Yesterday was a Mayor Pete day. They've had entire days for Kamala, Adams, Biden, and Beto as well.

so you're just catching different editorial shows.
